The Feedway is proud to sponsor this weekend's racing action at Penticton Speedway!

Rock, Racing, and Mayhem Collide at the Penticton Speedway this weekend for the Feedway 500 Gordy Mannes Memorial August 2 and 3.

The weekend promises two adrenaline-fueled nights of racing, chaos, and unforgettable entertainment—with a heavy dose of rock ‘n’ roll to kick it all off.

Saturday, August 2: Racing Meets Rock
Night One is all about full-throttle action on the track with live music from BC/DC, Canada’s premier AC/DC tribute band. The night of racing features Hornets, Street Stocks, Legends, and Late Models, along with fan-favourite Flying Destruction—where cars are launched off ramps and through a motorhome in one of the wildest stunts you’ll see on a race track.

Sunday, August 3: Eve of Destruction
The chaos continues Sunday with another jam-packed night of racing and carnage. In addition to the core classes hitting the track again, fans will be treated to the ever-popular Hit to Pass Boat & Trailer Race—a no-rules showdown where drivers drag everything from trailers to boats behind them in a battle of sheer destruction. It’s loud, messy, and absolutely unforgettable.

Racing. Rock. Mayhem. All in one place!

Way’ Penticton! 👋

Meaning hello or welcome in nsyilxcən, the way’ art piece created by local PIB artist Clint George was unveiled at the snpink’tn Indian Band National Indigenous Peoples Day event on June 21 before being installed at 300 Riverside Drive.

The project involved partnerships between the City of Penticton and Ooknakane Friendship Centre in consultation with snpink'tn Indian Band. We are thrilled to welcome residents and visitors in both languages, honouring the traditional culture of the syilx people and celebrating shared community.

Imagine a total jackpot of 1.5 million dollars! Winner takes half!

The Feedway Foundation’s Penticton Breakfast Club has proudly partnered with the South Okanagan Similkameen (SOS) Medical Foundation in a powerful initiative to uplift children, women, and families in the South Okanagan through a community raffle with a jackpot of up to $1,500,000!!

Proceeds from the Raffle will go toward purchasing vital equipment for the Women and Children’s Health Centre at Penticton Regional Hospital. This includes new breast pumps, baby scales, and delivery beds to improve the care and comfort of expectant mothers. Funds will also support renovations to the pediatric playroom, creating a more welcoming and engaging space for children receiving care.

In addition, a portion of the proceeds will support The Penticton Breakfast Club, operated by The Feedway Foundation, which provides healthy, nutritious breakfasts to kids in local schools—currently serving more than 1,000 meals a week and growing.

“Breakfast is such an important start to the day that many young people aren't able to have.” says Johnny Aantjes of The Feedway Foundation. “We are working with an amazing group of volunteers to provide a healthy breakfast, no barriers or stigmas, to all kids. Breakfast fuels the students' focus and ability to learn.”

“This partnership is a shining example of what’s possible when organizations unite for the greater good,” says Ian Lindsay for the SOS Medical Foundation. “Whether it’s helping a child start their day with a full stomach or giving a mother a more comfortable birthing experience, your ticket purchase goes directly to improving lives.”

Residents of BC are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets to help make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of children and families in the South Okanagan. Ticket pricing, prize details, and purchasing options are available at www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/sosmf

You can also purchase them at:
-City Centre Pharmacy, 187 Nanaimo Ave (Penticton)
-The Feedwaty, 116 Green Mountain Road (Penticton)
-SOS Café, 550 Carmi Ave (inside Penticton Regional Hospital)

Mail and parcel delivery could be halted if there is another Canada Post strike, but did you know it could also affect an unusual service the postal carrier has provided for many years?

Johnny Aantjes was among a handful of people picking up chicks at Kelowna International Airport on Thursday morning. He owns The Feedway, a pet and livestock feed business based in Penticton. The Feedway also sells farm-fresh eggs, baby chicks and chickens.

He drove from Penticton to the WestJet Cargo depot to take delivery of a shipment of 1,400 live baby chickens.

“Normally we transport them through Canada Post but with a potential strike, we don’t want these little guys being stuck in a van somewhere if they get shut down, so we put them on a plane and flew them in,” said Aantjes.

While Canada Post said that any live animal deliveries in the system would be delivered in the event of a strike, Aantjes didn’t want to risk the birds being left in limbo, especially in light of a troubling case out of Delaware recently.

“Where 12,000 birds were stuck in the back of a van. I don’t think it was a strike situation, but somehow they were forgotten and then lost 10,000 of 12,000 birds.

“We just can’t have that happen, so the flight made the most sense,” he said.

The other option was to truck them from the supplier in Alberta, but that would take longer and possibly put the birds under more stress than a quick flight.

The fuzzy little chicks were loaded into the back of Aantjes’ SUV and made it safely to the South Okanagan, where they were quickly made comfortable under heat lamps.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers was poised to begin job action as early as Friday if the two sides had not come to a settlement before the midnight deadline.

The owner of a South Okanagan pet and farm supply company chose to fly in a shipment of baby chicks to Kelowna International Airport instead of relying on Ca...
