🚨 A friendly reminder from Mikie’s Dog Services 🐾

We get it…Seeing someone offer cheap dog walks can feel like a win.

Quick. Easy. Affordable.

But here’s the part most people don’t think about šŸ‘‡

This isn’t just a ā€œwalkā€ā€¦This is handling a powerful, unpredictable animal in a real-world environment.

Even the sweetest dogs can:
🐾 React to another dog in seconds
🐾 Spook from a loud noise
🐾 Slip out of gear if it’s not fitted right
🐾 Pull someone off balance
🐾 Get into dangerous situations fast (traffic, wildlife, fights)

And when that moment happens…there’s no pause button.

So before trusting just anyone, ask yourself šŸ‘‡
ā“ Can they read your dog’s body language?
ā“ Do they understand behaviour not just basic commands?
ā“ Do they know how to prevent a situation before it escalates?
ā“ Are they trained in pet CPR & first aid?
ā“ Would they know exactly what to do in a dog fight or wildlife encounter?

Because experience isn’t something you can fake in those moments.

At Mikie’s Dog Services, this is what we do.This is what we train for. šŸ’Ŗ

We specialize in dogs that need more than just ā€œa quick walkā€:
šŸ• Large, powerful breeds
šŸ• Strong pullers
šŸ• High-energy or reactive dogs
šŸ• Dogs that need structure, leadership, and control

We’re not just walking your dog we’re managing behaviour, ensuring safety, and building trust every step of the way.

At the end of the day…You’re not just paying for time.

You’re investing in:
āœ”ļø Proper handling
āœ”ļø Real experience
āœ”ļø Safety under pressure
āœ”ļø Peace of mind

Your dog deserves more than ā€œjust anyone.ā€ ā¤ļøšŸ¾

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared Sophie’s journey šŸ¾ā¤ļø

A caring neighbour first reached out to me because she was concerned about whether Sophie’s owner would be able to manage such a large, powerful dog on her own after the passing of her husband. Sophie is incredibly loving but with her size and strength, everyday things like walks and door greetings can become overwhelming or even unsafe without the right structure and support.

Since then, we’ve been putting in consistent work.
Sophie now understands space boundaries, reliable recall, structured stays & place work, polite door manners, and loose-leash walking so outings are calm, controlled, and safe for her mom.

In this video you’ll see more than just training.
You’ll see me walking her, grooming her, feeding her, cleaning her kennel, picking up after her, helping around the property, and building a genuine bond.

Because this isn’t just dog training
this is a real support service.

I’m here for the people who truly love their dogs but may not physically be able to give them everything they need anymore.
Whether it’s an elderly owner, someone living with an injury or disability, or anyone going through a major life change… that’s where I step in.

Every person deserves the companionship of a dog.
And every dog deserves proper care, structure, and exercise.
My role is to help make that balance possible.

This is what Mikie’s Dog Services is all about
supporting owners, strengthening dogs, and creating safer, happier lives together.🐶

Big milestone day for Wally šŸ’ŖšŸ©

Our main goal from the start was building him into a dog who could safely enjoy off-leash freedom someday and the progress he’s made has been massive. His obedience, focus, and confidence have all levelled up… and he even conquered his fear of stairs šŸ™Œ

Today we took his skills into a more real-world setting with distractions. He showed us just how much he’s learned, while also reminding us there’s still some polishing to do which is exactly how good training should look. Progress, not perfection.

A special highlight… it was Willow’s very first day ā€œon the job.ā€šŸ•ā€šŸ¦ŗ
She once struggled with dog reactivity herself, and today she helped demonstrate calm introductions and structured work around other dogs. Watching both Wally and Willow grow together was a proud trainer moment ā¤ļø

Wally’s mom has put in the work and continues to show real commitment to doing things safely and responsibly. The dream of safe off-leash adventures is getting closer every session

Amazing dog. Dedicated owner. Bright future ahead.

First structured meet-up with Rex, Zeus & Ace fully muzzled, fully prepared, zero ego.

We don’t ā€œhope for the best.ā€
We build control first.

Zeus was becoming reactive on walks. Once he escalated, Ace followed. Two powerful dogs reacting at once is overwhelming for any handler. So instead of avoiding the problem… we trained through it safely and correctly.

Today wasn’t about forcing interaction.
It was about:

• Proper meet-up protocol
• Clear leash handling
• Structured obedience under pressure
• Reading body language
• Interrupting reactivity early
• Building Dad’s confidence

And that’s where the real win happened.

Dad followed instructions.
He stayed calm.
He handled pressure correctly.

When Zeus improved, Ace stayed neutral.
When Dad became confident, both dogs settled.

That’s the formula.

Through structure, clarity, and relationship work the dynamic changed.

Before our lessons, Dad wasn’t comfortable walking them together.
Now? He walks both with confidence and control.

Reactivity isn’t about dominance.
It’s about leadership, timing, and trust.

Progress doesn’t happen by accident it happens by design.

Levi is a 1.5-year-old male American Staffordshire Ɨ Husky mix and right now he’s communicating loud and clear.
Standoffish, barking, guarding his parents, showing teeth when hands come close… that’s not ā€œbad,ā€ that’s a dog saying, ā€œI don’t feel safe yet.ā€
So we slow everything down and start where progress actually begins: space, structure, and trust-building reps.
No rushing. No pressure. Just consistency that turns fear into confidence one small win at a time.

Rex is more than my sidekick he’s my co-trainer.🐾

Today’s meet-up was with Zeus, a 4-year-old Cane Corso who used to turn walks into a workout: heavy leash pulling, dog reactivity, and it got to the point where Dad couldn’t walk both dogs safely. Fast forward… the progress is real.
Rex helps me run these meet-ups the right way calm energy, clear structure, good reps and Zeus is starting to choose focus over chaos.
And the biggest reason it’s working: Zach is putting in the homework. Consistent work at home always shows on the leash.
If you’re struggling on walks, don’t quit build a plan, stay consistent, and stack small wins until they become the new normal.

I was originally called in for Tico.
What appeared to be ā€œhis aggressionā€ was actually a reaction to Tucker’s guarding behavior.

Early in the video, you’ll see Tucker working through guarded aggression he is muzzle-conditioned for safety while we address bite attempts and space guarding. From there, we shift into structured obedience: sit, down, and place, practiced calmly with family members to rebuild clarity and predictability.

As structure increases, you’ll notice:
• tension decreasing
• both dogs responding to direction
• shared space without conflict
• and regulated body language

By the end of the video, Tico and Tucker are laying together, and Tucker voluntarily rolls over and allows handling a clear sign of reduced guarding and growing trust.

This is not a ā€œfixed dog.ā€
This is real behavior modification and meaningful progress in only two sessions.

Understanding the source of behavior matters especially in multi-dog households.

Today was about introductions, building rapport, and starting leash-manners foundations in a low-distraction environment (parking lot practice). We focused on simple, clear leash communication and ending on a positive note.

I switched her mom from a bungee to a solid silicone leash because it gives more consistent feedback and better handling less ā€œspring,ā€ less confusion, and no catapulting forward when she surges. The silicone is strong, durable, non-tangle, and helps keep reps clean while we teach proper leash manners.

Meet Ace (Shepherd mix) and Zeus (Cane Corso) and I’m excited to start training with them.

Two different personalities, tons of potential, and I already know this is going to be a fun journey. We’re going to focus on the foundations first, then build into solid leash manners and real-world obedience.

I geared up for the cold today and made sure Annie’s paws were protected too.
Because dogs don’t ask for much just love, consistency, and safety.
That’s why I choose pets over people… their loyalty never freezes. ā„ļøšŸ¾

Always testing high-quality treats for my clients AND my kids 🐾
Found The Paw Lab at the Grain & Grit dog market and let me tell you… human-grade, no junk, small-batch, made with love šŸ™Œ
Rex & Willow approved instantly šŸ‘€šŸ’›
Highly recommend for anyone needing clean, healthy training rewards.
