My heart dog.💛

You are fiercely loyal, endlessly brave, and somehow the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. I wouldn’t change a single thing about you.

You’ve challenged me, humbled me, inspired me, and taught me lessons that continue to shape the way I understand and work with dogs every day. You have been such a huge part of my journey as a trainer, and so much of what I believe about dogs today started with you.

The way I approach training, advocate for dogs, and connect with clients has been influenced by the lessons you’ve taught me along the way.

To be loved by you is one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Happy 9th birthday to the dog behind it all. 🐾✨

A hill I’ll die on: ✨ Obedience doesn’t fix reactivity—it often just masks the symptoms. ✨

Winnie has been one of the most explosively reactive dogs I’ve worked with. I wish I had some before footage to show just how far she’s come, but you’ll have to trust me on this one.

The progress Winnie and her owners have made has been incredible, and it came from addressing the dog in front of us—not just asking for more obedience. This is just her beginning!

What helped?

🐾 Looking at her breed and providing outlets that fulfilled her biological needs
🐾 Addressing underlying health factors
🐾 Giving her opportunities to make choices at liberty and coaching her through those moments
🐾 Building confidence and resilience instead of focusing on compliance
🐾 Creating an environment where she could be successful

Reactive dogs don’t need to be controlled into feeling better. They need support, guidance, and a plan that addresses the why behind the behaviour.

And Winnie is proof of that. 💛🐾

🐾 KIDS & CANINES IS HERE 🐾

A brand new 4-week course designed to help kids learn how to safely, confidently, and respectfully interact with and handle their family dog 🐶✨

I get so many requests from families wanting their child to be more involved with their puppy or dog — whether that’s helping with training, learning to walk them, or simply understanding them better. But with that comes a HUGE responsibility, and honestly… a lot of important safety skills that kids need to be taught.

So I created something just for them 💛
And just in time for summer — when the kids are home, routines change, and dogs and children are spending even more time together ☀️🐾

🦴 Kids ages 8–13
📅 June 1, 8, 15 & 22
🎓 Includes a collaborative graduation test + certificate
👨‍👩‍👧 Guardians must attend alongside child
🐶 Ideal for non-reactive dogs

Throughout this course, kids will learn:
🐾 Dog body language
🐾 Safe leash handling
🐾 Walking safety + awareness
🐾 Communication and training skills
🐾 Respectful interactions and boundaries
🐾 Real-life safety scenarios

This class is not about handing kids full responsibility of a dog — it’s about creating safe, educated teamwork between kids, dogs, and parents 🐶🤝

Spots will be intentionally LIMITED to keep classes safe, structured, and hands-on.

If you’ve ever said:
“My child would LOVE to be more involved with our dog…” This class is for you 💛

🐾 DAY CAMP 🐾

For our graduates who’ve earned a little less work and a little more play!

While training may be complete, that doesn’t mean the fun has to end 👏 Day Camp was created exclusively for Kate N K9s graduates who still benefit from structured socialization, enrichment, routine, and safe outlets — all in a calm, home-style environment.

Think of it as our little graduate club for dogs who love being part of the pack 🐶

Day Camp is designed to provide:
✨ Small, familiar groups
✨ Structured play & social time
✨ Mental & physical enrichment
✨ Rest and downtime throughout the day
✨ Continued reinforcement of good manners & calm behaviour

Whether you’re heading to work, running errands, or simply want your dog to enjoy a fun day with friends, Day Camp offers a safe and enriching environment where dogs can just be dogs — while still maintaining the skills they’ve worked so hard to build 🩵

📍 Tuesday - Friday
✨ Available as single days, 5 day packs, or 10 day packs to fit your schedule

🐾 BIG CHANGES ARE COMING TO DAY TRAIN 🐾

Over the last little while, I’ve taken a step back to really evaluate how I can better support both dogs and their owners throughout the training process. After hearing your feedback and seeing the different needs each team has, I knew it was time to create something more intentional ✨

Our Day Train program has officially evolved into FOUR specialized training tracks:

🐶 The Puppy Prep Program
🏡 The Everyday Dog Program
🌲 The Adventure Dog Program
🧠 The Regulated Dog Program

Each program is designed with a specific purpose in mind — whether that’s building confidence in a puppy, creating a balanced everyday companion, working toward reliable off-leash freedom, or helping dogs struggling with overstimulation and reactivity.

These changes allow for:
✨ More personalized training
✨ More goal-focused support
✨ Better structure & progression
✨ More guidance for owners along the way

Day Trains will continue running Tuesday–Friday, with new add-on training days and coaching sessions now available for those wanting additional support 👏

I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter and even more excited to continue helping your dogs thrive in ways that feel practical, fair, and sustainable for real life 🩵

Introducing: Rescue Ride Along 🐾🚙

Every Friday for the month of April, one adoptable dog from Tango’s Lead Canine Rescue will join us for a free Day Train spot alongside the founder’s own dogs for a full day of structure, exposure, training, and real-world experience.

This gives rescue dogs the opportunity to:
✨ build confidence
✨ work on adoptable life skills
✨ gain valuable training experience
✨ get more visibility within the community

The goal? To help set these dogs up for success and give them a little extra support on their journey to finding the right home. 🖤

A full day of training is valued at $100, and if you’d like to support this initiative, you can Sponsor a Spot by donating directly to Tango’s Lead Canine Rescue.

Any dollar amount helps — whether you’re covering part of a day or contributing toward a full spot, every donation makes a difference. If you choose to donate, please include “Sponsor a Spot” in the note/tag so we know what your contribution is going toward. 🐾

Donations can be accepted via Zeffy or Square (link in Tangos bio) or e-transfer to [email protected]

Muzzles deserve a serious rebrand 👏🐾

A muzzle is not a sign of a “bad dog” - it’s a sign of a responsible owner making safe, thoughtful choices for their dog and everyone around them.

When introduced properly, a muzzle can be an incredibly valuable training tool. It can help:
✨create a safer learning environment
✨reduce stress for the handler
✨prevent rehearsal of dangerous behaviours
✨allow dogs to safely work through triggers
✨add peace of mind in public or high-pressure situations
✨support vet visits, grooming, recovery, and more

For some dogs, wearing a muzzle can actually create more freedom - because safety allows for more training opportunities, more exposure, and more confidence-building in the right situations.

Just like a leash, long line, crate, or e-collar, a muzzle is simply a tool. It’s all about how it’s conditioned and used.

A properly fitted muzzle should allow your dog to:
✔ pant
✔ take treats
✔ drink water
✔ breathe comfortably

Normalizing muzzles helps remove stigma and opens the door for safer, more honest dog ownership. And honestly? More people should be muzzle training their dogs before they ever “need” one!!!

Safety is not failure. Management is not weakness. Training tools are not shameful. They’re smart. 💙
