After a day of watching eventing derby competitors from x-poles to 1.0m, we’re excited to announce the first inaugural winner of the Power of 2 award for cross country style. Our first winner showed the same spirit of resilience, partnership and style as our judge Mark Nelson’s Advanced horse “Power of 2”. Our first winner has earned a division entry for the next Eventing Derby at Oakhurst and showed improvement all day on the courses.

If you are working towards getting certified as a Competition Coach Specialist in 2026 or beyond, this is your last chance to get in the Ontario Equestrian 2026 Competition Coach Specialist Training Cohort to help you prepare for the evaluation process.

Join Oakhurst coaches Ruth & Helen for 7 weeks of learning, sharing ideas and honing your skills. If you have questions, ask either one of us!

The cohort begins on Tuesday the 27th and will work together through the recommended training and prep for Coach Specialist candidates. The training included in this course:
- Design an Equestrian Sport Program
- Manage an Equestrian Sport Program
- Analyze Competitive Equestrian Performance
Extra sessions are included with the cohort to help prepare portfolio and coaching submissions for evaluation.

Candidates may register for evaluation separately when ready.

Using a cohort working together in a virtual environment, candidates in the group will work together with experienced Master Coach Developers Ruth Allum (HP1 – Eventing) and Helen Richardson (Competition Coach Specialist – Eventing) through training and mentoring to prepare for certification. Th...
