We're ending our Monday with some updates from our adopters!! Let's check in to see how Mufasa, Jupiter, and Rue are doing in their forever homes!!

Here’s a little update on Mufasa! He loves being pet but is still very nervous in his new environment. He eats well and uses the litter box when I’m asleep and will cautiously explore his surroundings. He’s made some good progress since we brought him home last week.

Just wanted to reach out and give you guys a little update on Jupiter ☺️ he’s been doing so well so far! The best little cuddle buddy! He discovered the window perch this evening and has not moved from it since ❤️

Rue She’s really coming around now! She’s much more verbal and is starting to come upstairs more often. She loves doing her own thing and wants to play all the time — which I absolutely love. She’s now giving me nose-to-nose kisses, and she sits beautifully for her treats when I use the clicker. The best part — she now gives me her paw when I ask! I can tell she’s sitting and offering her paw not just for the treat, but because she understands and wants to connect. It’s amazing to see her trust growing like this.

While it sounds amazing to dream of having 100 cats to cuddle and snuggle 🥰 we all know that it doesn’t quite work!

So how many cats is too many? 😻
Well it depends on a few things:
* Living space: how much room do you have and how much would each of your cats have?
* Others in the home: are their other people and pets to consider?
* Time and Energy: how much time and energy does each individual cat need, and are those needs being met?
* Socializing: is your cat friendly with other animals or does this cause more tension in the home?
* Stress: sometimes too many cats in one space can cause problems between cats and cats and their humans.

So, when does it become too many?
* If you are not able to provide for each of their basic needs (food, water, litter, vet care).
* If you see an increase in fighting, marking, or other negative behaviours and attitudes.
* When you feel you do not have enough time to spend with each cat.

So what is the magic number? 2?4?5?
There is no magic number! There’s just ongoing love and affection between you and your cats! But, make sure you do keep the number manageable enough for your own lifestyle! 🐾💚

Earlier today, we told you about our recent intake Dixie. She took a bad turn this morning and has spent the day at the vet.
🙏 Tonight, we are asking for donations toward Dixie’s ungoing care. Please read her story below.

We have a heartbreaking emergency intake to tell you about. This weekend, a four month old kitten was found motionless, under a car in Hawkesbury. She presented with an extremely puffy face and she would not eat.
We suspect she was abused or tossed from a car. 😭 💔

Monday 6pm update. This morning Dixie stopped eating and appeared to be in pain in her hind end. We also saw blood on her blankets. She was rushed to the vet for bloodwork & X-rays.
The vet heard raspy chest sounds and after checking her back end, the blood had come from her urine.

Xrays revealed no broken bones, but Dixie is anemic and the vet suspects trauma response or blood Protozoa. She will be on two antibiotics and subq fluids and hopefully we will see a response in 3 to 4 days. We will continue syringe feeding until she starts to eat on her own. Also, the vet has reported that her blood is very watery.

👋Meet Pansy! This adorable five-year-old calico came to us after a recent diagnosis of diabetes. Her previous owners unfortunately could no longer take care of her. We believe this sweet gal deserves a 2nd chance at life!! Since settling into her insulin-routine, she is like a brand new kitten!! Very playful, very sweet and docile! She is comfortable being around other cats as well as dogs and loves to cuddle.

👍Likes: fuzzy toys, chasing her tail, sniffing her dog brothers (she has no fear of them!), cuddling on your chest, watching tv - and of course her feather stick!

❌Dislikes: loud noises & wet food (I know! weird right?)

🐱For those new to diabetic care for cats, Pansy makes it easy to give her insulin which has to be given to her twice a day. Her diet also needs to be monitored as well as have regular vet visits but other than that Pansy can have a long life and is very easy to handle.

🐈Cats like Pansy who have a pre-existing medical condition often wait for their furrever home for a very long time. If you have the space and time to give her the care she needs, please consider giving Pansy or other cats like her a home. 🐈Tori came into care with her sister Ella. This girl enjoys being picked up and cuddled as well as belly rubs. She is passive and gentle with young children and has lived with dogs before. Tori loves eating fancy feast and dry food. This little bombshell of a kitten is ready to find her forever home.

We have a few new intakes to tell you about.
🐱 Five kittens have arrived. The mother of these kittens will be spayed and returned to stop any future litters
🐱 Two kittens have arrived in our care after being found under a shed. It is suspected that a fox killed their mother.
🐱 Laurel and Hardy came to us as fully vetted, 3 year-old cats.

Please join us in welcoming these new arrivals. A gentle reminder that if you find a cat or kittens requiring help, please bring them into a safe area of your home. A temporary litter box can be made from an aluminum tray or any kind of plastic box. Even shredded newspaper would work as temporary litter. Provide freshwater and food, until we have space and can offer further assistance.

We are always in need of foster homes for these new intakes. We would love to hear from you, if you have a secure and comfortable area of your home in which to temporarily house a foster cat. We will supply everything you need and guide you every step of the way.

Paris aime jouer avec des petites balles et s’entend très bien avec les autres chats. Chaque soir, elle appelle son papa d’accueil pour leur moment spécial : une séance de jeu et de câlins, juste tous les deux. 😌
