A little about me

My name is Roza, I was born and raised in the Czech Republic and have been in Canada since 2016. I grew up in the old school punishment&reward (euphemistically also called "whip and sugar") methods of training and after meeting so many wonderful trainers in Vancouver, BC I got interested in the latest science-based method in animal training. I use positive reinforcement-based me

thods, without the use of harsh correction and aversive tools such as choke, prong or e-collar. Altogether I am trying to avoid intimidation techniques as I believe it makes us more patient and better human beings. There is also no need for such methods when we can establish clear and reliable communication between you and your dog. How does it work in a nutshell? I always look at the dog's motivation. And accordingly, adjust the environment of the dog to be the most successful. We aim to have maximum successful repetition and minimum unwanted behavior rehearsals. To establish desired patterns of behavior I use rewards such as food, toys, play and/or the environment. On these pages, I intend to share dog training info, tips on care, enrichment, health, and diet. I'm not claiming to be a vet and will not answer any medical issues on a professional level. Please seek a veterinarian if there is a reason for concern.

Addressing a barking.
Giving advice over the internet is always generic and doesn't need to fit your situation as I can't modify the training on the go when I can see the real-time interaction.
However like with any training it is good to understand the behaviour. When it happens, what happens before that, how long it takes, and what's the outcome.. Generally speaking, when we don't want to see something, ask yourself, what can my dog do instead?
I'm going to post a couple of videos of what I did with my barky dog. I ultimately want him to seak me aka recall to me...barking is normal behaviour, I will never want to suppress it, but I rather teach when it's enough. With consistency and repetition, we would create a habit. Eventually, when the dog sees his trigger, he will opt for the learned response (we taught him) instead of barking.

Yet another reason to consider an ethical breeder over a random person who breeds dogs without proper knowledge and rigorous health testing or has an "accidental" littler. Don't buy dogs just because they are cute. All puppies are cute and the genetically heath-tested ones are also healthy.
