Horse Deworming Season!
As the seasons change and the temperatures drop, fall becomes a crucial time in your horse's parasite control program. While deworming is important year-round, the fall season plays a specific role in helping reduce parasite loads and protect your horse's health going into winter.
In the fall, horses are often exposed to an increased risk of encysted small strongyles (also known as cyathostomes and bot larvae. These parasites can become dormant (encysted) in the intestinal wall, making them harder to detect and eliminate. Fall deworming targets these hidden threats before winter, when your horse's immune system may be more vulnerable.
Contact us today to make your horse's tailored deworming protocol today!

In the last month, MorEnergy Veterinary Services has seen a number of cases of Parvo infected dogs. Parvo is a preventable viral infection that can be fatal. When infected, puppies often need intensive hospitalization and after care. This infection can lead to life long gastrointestinal issues as well.
With rising costs of veterinary medicine, we are seeing an increase in unvaccinated animals. We understand that the cost of living is high but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the old adage goes. Please, ensure that your puppy has a complete first set of vaccines and receives a booster at the appropriate age. If your dog is displaying any symptoms, please call your veterinarian as soon as possible. We are being extra cautious at our clinic and may require a Parvo Test if your pet is displaying symptoms related to this illness.

Fall run has begun and it is a busy season in a mixed animal veterinary practice. Pregnancy detection in cattle can be done as early as 38 days. To book preg checking that best suits your cattle operation call early to schedule.
Please prepare for your fall season by pre-ordering your vaccines. Email ([email protected]) or call the clinic (587-680-6890) at least 3 business days before you want to pick up your order. This ensures we have the quantity you require and it is prepared for you to pick up. Your time is valuable and this means you are not making repeat trips to the clinic to gather your supplies.
Thank you for cooperation and understanding as we head into a busy time.

MEVS After Hours Service

Note to our valued clients and Community:

MorEnergy Veterinary Service has a doctor on call outside of regular business hours. We aim to provide emergency support to our clients and patients.

MorEnergy Veterinary Services is not an ‘Emergency Clinic’ – we do not have the staff to provide critical or intensive care to our patients. Critical care is needed for patients with respiratory distress, seizures, bleeding that requires a blood transfusion, uncontrolled diabetes or metabolic disease as examples.

Please call us after hours if you have an emergency with your pets or livestock. We are happy to help you decide on the best course of treatment, see the patient after hours if appropriate or offer exam/consult during regular business hours if non-emergent.
The doctor on call will help direct you to an emergency/referral clinic if deemed best for the patient.

Emma - Receptionist

Originally from Alberta, Emma spent her earlier years greatly involved in both box and field lacrosse, while also playing a part working with her family's pointer dogs for hunting.
Emma just moved back here to her home province from B.C where she spent last year working as an overnight Critical Care Assistant at an emergency vet. Emma is looking forward to continuing her career in veterinary services with the community she knows and loves. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the river with her dog, Lennon, hunting, or with the many animals at the farm, including ducks, chickens, horses, cattle, and pigs.
Emma's warm demeanor, combined with her hands-on experience and genuine love for animals, makes her a great part of the MorEnergy team.

Jackie - RVT

I grew up on a farm in the Morinville area. It was a mixed farm with dairy cattle, pigs, and grain. It was here I learned to love working with animals. I graduated from NAIT with my diploma in Animal Health technology in 1998. I enjoy the diversity of rural practice and working with any baby animal.
My husband, 3 kids and I raise sheep in Barrhead County. I enjoy gardening, travelling, and visiting with family and friends.
