Dr. Sanjay Ralhan joined the company in 1990 and in 1995 he formed a partnership with Dr. DeZeeuw. The original location of Sunrise Animal Hospital was at 1 Sunrise Avenue in Mount Pearl, N

L. Land was purchased at 222 Park Avenue and after the construction of the new hospital was complete, the new and improved Sunrise Animal Hospital opened for business on December 31 2007. Today Sunrise Animal Hospital Ltd. has two Hospitals. The Torbay Road Animal Hospital opened in 1997 and is located at 286 Torbay Rd., Coaker's Meadow Plaza in St. John's NL. Did you know that on a warm day, asphalt can become hot enough to burn your dog's paw pads in just minutes?

When the air temperature is:
🌡️ 25°C (77°F) → Asphalt can reach 52°C (125°F)
🌡️ 31°C (88°F) → Asphalt can exceed 62°C (143°F)

🐕 Signs of burned paw pads:
• Limping or refusing to walk
• Excessive licking or chewing at paws
• Redness, blisters, or peeling skin
• Darkened or damaged paw pads

💡 Tips to protect your pet:
✅ Walk during cooler hours (early morning or evening)
✅ Stick to grass, dirt paths, or shaded areas
✅ Try the 7-second test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws!
✅ Consider protective dog booties for summer walks
✅ Bring water and take frequent breaks in the shade
🚨 If you suspect your pet has burned paws, gently rinse the feet with cool (not ice-cold) water and contact your veterinarian for advice.
