🐾🔍 Today is National Check the Chip Day!
-
A microchip is only as good as the info it holds — so take a few minutes to make sure your pet’s microchip details are up-to-date!

✅ Call your microchip company to verify your contact info
✅ Update any old phone numbers, emails, or addresses
✅ Double-check your pet’s registration is active

That tiny chip can make the biggest difference if your pet ever gets lost — but only if it leads back to you. 💙

Thunderstorms can be ruff on our furry friends — but with a little preparation, you can help keep them calm and safe. 💙
-
💊 Ask your vet about calming options – From supplements to prescription medications, there are safe choices to ease anxiety.

🎵 Distract with sound – Play white noise, calming music, or keep the TV on to muffle thunder.

🏠 Create a safe space – A cozy crate, closet, or covered area can make pets feel secure.

🎾 Keep them busy – Offer puzzle feeders, treats, or favorite toys to shift their focus.

🪟 Close windows & curtains – Helps reduce both flashes and rumbling.

⚠️ Never punish fearful behavior – Comfort and patience go a long way.
Let’s make storms less scary, one paw at a time. 💙

🚨 Evacuation Preparedness 🚨

We want all of our clients to be ready and prepared if they need to evacuate due to the ongoing wildfires in our province. In wildfire-prone areas, having a Pet Evacuation Kit ready can save precious time—and lives! 🐾
-
Here’s your Pet Evacuation Preparedness Checklist:

✅ Pet First Aid Kit
✅ Bottled Water
✅ Food & Collapsible bowls
✅ Medications & Medical Supplies
✅ P**p Bags / Litter & Litter Box
✅ Collar with ID Tags & Microchip Info
✅ Leash, Harness, Kennel or Crate
✅ Copies of Pet Insurance & Medical Records
✅ Comfort Items (toys, blankets, etc.)
-

➡️ Pro Tip: Keep your kit in an easy-to-grab bag near your main exit, ensure micropchip information is up to date and practice evacuating with your pet to reduce stress.

Blue-green algae thrives during hot seasons and can be found in non-flowing water including rivers, pools and decorative ponds.
-
It makes the water look murky like pea soup or as if paint has been poured into it. Blue-green algae can fatally poison all types of pets, but it’s especially harmful to dogs. 😱
There is no antidote for the toxins that it produces. Immediate veterinary care is crucial.🆘
-
-
👇How to Protect Your Pet 👇
🐾If you see water with algae blooms, do not allow your dog to swim in it or to drink it.
🐾If your pet comes into contact with the algae, rinse them with fresh water, take them to your veterinary team, and call your Pet Poison Helpline right away.
🐾Know the symptoms of poisoning: difficulty breathing, lethargy, vomiting, seizures, convulsions, drooling.
