🐾 Quick Wins to Build a Better Bond 🐾

Bonding with your dog doesn’t have to be complicated — it’s the little things you do every day that make the biggest difference. 💛

Here are 6 simple ways to strengthen your relationship with your pup:
1️⃣ Play a 5-minute training game — short & fun builds trust.
2️⃣ Let them sniff on walks — it’s like checking their social media feed!
3️⃣ Celebrate the small wins — “Yes, good dog!” goes a long way.
4️⃣ Talk to them like a teammate — calm, happy tones build connection.
5️⃣ Spend 10 minutes of solo time — no phones, just presence.
6️⃣ Narrate the day — dogs love routine and predictability.

✨ Remember: bonding isn’t always about training — it’s about trust, presence, and celebrating the small moments together.

👉 Which of these do you already do with your dog? Drop it in the comments — we’d love to hear! 🐶💬

🐾 NEW EPISODE: “Old Dogs, Real Talk” is live! 🎙️

In this episode of Talk to the Paw, Lise and Karen get real about life with aging dogs — the joys, the heartaches, the wet decks, and the hilarious lessons along the way. 💬

Whether you're navigating senior dog care, crate training, or just trying to decode what your dog wants at 8:30pm… this one’s for you. It’s warm, funny, a little chaotic (in the best way), and packed with insights from two seasoned dog trainers who have seen it all.

🎧 Tune in to hear:
✔️ Why “good dog” isn’t always the full story
✔️ The bedtime rituals dogs choose for themselves
✔️ What crate training really means (and why it’s not punishment)
✔️ Funny tales about rabbits, ravens, and dogs that close their own crates
✔️ Why talking less can sometimes mean training more

URGENT - PREDATOR IS STEALING MULTIPLE CATS FROM PINCOURT AND RELOCATING THEM - POSSIBLY ALL OVER THE WEST ISLAND AND MONTREAL.

We have proof - in the meantime, time is off the essence.
This beautiful cat on the left has been posted on several groups as being wandering for several weeks in Montreal North. AS MENTIONED, there is a human predator, on the West Island, who is trapping and relocating many people's pets all over, including 2 of my friends' cats. The cat on the right is my friend's missing cat.

We believe this may be my friend's stolen and relocated cat. They even have the same beige/white puff on the tail. We are trying to reach the original poster (cat on left) but cannot get in touch. We are desperate to find the whereabouts of this cat who is roaming in Montreal North, so we can find the cat and check for a chip - my friend can bring the microchip checker on site, as she is a vet tech.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of this cat, please let me (Susan Mackasey) know asap. Please post in Montreal groups. I am not a member of Montreal North groups and time is of the essence. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION WITH OTHER CATS INVOLVED. We have lots of proof but need to find these cats, ASAP. Any help would be appreciated! Please no judgement about letting cats .

“My dog’s just hyper — they need more exercise!”
…or do they? 👀🐾

Sometimes the issue isn’t too much zoomies — it’s not enough brain games.
Because let’s be real: would you be happy just doing laps every day? 😅

🧠 Mental enrichment = the secret sauce to a calmer, happier pup.
Sniff walks, puzzle feeders, trick training, “find it” games… even cardboard box shredding can work wonders!

Drop your dog’s fave brain game below ⬇️
Let’s get those tails wagging and brains buzzing! 🐶💡

For pets and their people since 2010

MDB started as a charity-driven, volunteer web blog (www.montrealdogblog.com) in 2010 to provide an informative, educational space for Montreal pet owners.

It featured multiple bloggers, volunteering their expertise in a range of topics: vet care, training, ‘green’ pet care, rescue news, grooming, life with pets in general. As well as providing local listings/ads for pet services.

All revenue generated by the blog was donated at the end of the year to local rescues (“Paw It Forward” campaign). To date, that has been approx $40 000.

The blog officially retired in August 2019 - but remains a strong community-based fixture on Facebook and continues to raise funds for animal rescues.
