Donβt forget to check your pet after every walk!
As the weather warms up, ticks become more active. These tiny parasites can carry serious diseases, making regular tick checks an important part of your petβs routine.
After each walk, be sure to check your petβs:
- Between the toes
- In and around the ears
- Under the collar
- Neck and chest area
- Armpits and groin area
- Around the eyes and muzzle.
Ticks can be very small and easy to miss, so take a few extra minutes to carefully inspect your pet, especially after spending time in tall grass, wooded areas, or parks.
π‘ If you find a tick:
β’ Use fine-tipped tweezers or a tick removal tool.
β’ Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible.
β’ Pull straight out with steady pressure.
β’ Avoid twisting, squeezing, or applying substances such as petroleum jelly or alcohol.
β
Regular flea and tick prevention remains the best way to help protect your pet throughout the season.
