Let’s face it, as a coral operation one of the biggest stressors is power.
This afternoon, there was an accident taking down the power in our area - leaving us and neighbours without power for an extended period of time.
Luckily, we have lots of solar power to keep our operation running….at least until the sun goes down.
Yes we are looking into batteries for the future, but they aren’t in place yet.
Luckily our tried and tested generator (which we haven’t needed for over five years) fired up nicely and is on standby incase the issue isn’t resolved before sundown.

Everything has been stripped out and removed….not a tank, pump or dry goods rack left in the place!

Introducing Valerie Dormer from the amazing Reef Wholesale all the way in Canada! 🇨🇦🪸

Valerie Dormer joined Reef Wholesale in 2019 with a deep love for animals and a strong work ethic from her farming background. Over the past six years, she has grown into an essential part of our team, becoming highly skilled in fish identification, disease diagnosis, and treatment.

Her journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Initially quiet and reserved, Valerie now confidently mentors others, sharing her knowledge with both our team and local stores. She is deeply dedicated to the health and well-being of our fish, spending her days monitoring their condition, diagnosing diseases under the microscope, and ensuring they receive the best possible care.

Valerie has been instrumental in developing our clownfish breeding program, successfully rearing multiple batches since 2021. She has also played a key role in developing live feeds for both our breeding programs and in-house use, ensuring our fish receive the highest-quality nutrition from the earliest stages of life. Beyond her own work, she now trains others in fish care, testing, and disease prevention, helping to elevate knowledge and standards across our industry.
