On December 9th I had a visit from a customer named Chantal Yvone, and after sharing with her some financial concerns and that business had been slow, she went into action. The next day, December 10th, everything changed. It was an extra emotional day for me as it was my mother's, who past over a year ago, birthday. Customers began pouring into my shop with support that almost brought me to tears. I later found out that Chantal shared my story with the Milton community in a Facebook post which then prompted an article with a local paper. To my surprise, a GoFundMe page was also created by another Milton community member named Courtney Campbell, which left me even more astonished at the thoughtfulness and generosity that myself and my business were being shown. Every day since, there has been a continuous stream of support from individuals who genuinely want to help a local community business.
Some may say it’s a coincidence that this miracle on Main began on my mother’s birthday but I say, even not here, my mother sent an angel to help me through a difficult time.
While I do not know what the future holds for my business or where it may be a year or five years from now, I do know that the Milton community has proven to be the real deal. They are strong, loving and loyal and I will always remember Christmas 2022 and hold their kindness close to my heart.
