This beautiful boy would be perfect as a sports prospect and would love an experienced family to take him on. He is a quick study, loves to learn and is eager to please a confident handler. He is high energy with a good off switch and thrives with a strict routine.

Cameo is chalked full of potential but requires a home without children or cats, though he would love to have a dog to play with! He is learning to keep his excitement under control and can be mouthy/rowdy when excited or pent up and responds best to confidence and consistency. We would love to see him land in an active, experienced household to keep him on the path to success.

🎉 Great news!!! 🐾

After 194 lonely nights in the shelter, our sweet senior Hugo has left the building and landed on a comfy couch! For months, we tried all that we could to get Hugo out of the shelter and into a home but unfortunately, we weren't able to find him a family to call his own..

We started to worry about him. Despite our best efforts and enrichment activities, Hugo was becoming very unhappy in the shelter environment. Our hearts broke for him, no dog should spend their golden years in a shelter.. We made a final plea to the rescues in Ontario and couldn't be more proud of how hard the rescue community rallied for our boy! So many people put in so much work to find the perfect foster home, we are grateful for each and every one of them. Some time last week, we got a message that after several home visits, a rescue partner of ours found the *PERFECT* foster family for sweet Hugo!

On Friday, all the staff got together and threw him a going away party- he was a little confused at first but quickly leaned into the extra attention and special treats. He left on Saturday for his foster home and couldn't be happier! The foster reports that he is loving the backyard, the couch, the walks and the quiet.

I'd like to introduce myself- my name is Spankie and I'm a 1 year old boy jam-packed full of energy and fun!

I'm not sure why I ended up at the shelter, but what I do know is that I'm super duper ready to find a new family to love. I am hoping to find an active family with another rambunctious pup to play with, I'm always so excited to make new puppy friends 😁

Sometimes I can feel shy when I'm meeting new humans, but I warm up pretty quickly and once I know you? Oh boy, brace yourself for some kisses 😘

Looking for a husky who breaks all the rules? Meet Esquire, the distinguished gentleman of the shelter world. Unlike his sled pulling, adventure chasing cousins, Esquire prefers the great indoors and would rather snuggle on the couch than hike up a mountain.

This handsome boy has a few quirks that make him truly special. First, he’s got a passion for window cleaning... with his tongue! If you’ve got glass doors or low windows, consider them spotless. He’s also a clean freak when it comes to his kennel, which tells us he’s likely house trained and takes great pride in keeping his space tidy.

Esquire can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give him a little time and you’ll find he’s incredibly affectionate, sweet, and loyal. He gets along well with other dogs and could be a great companion for another respectful canine friend.

If you're a husky lover, he will be a breeze for you! All he needs is love, a warm spot by the window, and maybe a few extra glass surfaces to “clean.”

Hi everybody 🥹 My name is Dezmond, also known as King of the Puppy Eyes.

I have the sweetest face and an even sweeter soul! I am very good at tricking people into thinking I'm a calm, quiet pup in my run.. But once you let me out, that's when the games begin!

I am a high energy, fun-loving, toy chasing guy looking for a family that will take me on super cool adventures where I can sniff to my heart's content. I've met some dogs at the shelter, I LOVE to play with them but to be honest.. I can be a little pushy and rude if they let me. Eventually, I ease up but it would be good if you have an experienced dog who will teach me some boundaries. 😅

Now- look into my sparkling, admiration filled eyes and fall in love! I wanna come home with you!

Hugo- 6 months in care ❤️‍🩹

Our sweet senior Hugo has been waiting for a family to call his own since March. This silver faced boy still has so much life in him and love to give!

Hugo is looking for a quiet, pet-free home to retire in. Ideally, maybe a retired human to enjoy the golden years with! It is possible that he COULD learn to live with another senior dog, but he would much prefer to be the only pet in the home.

Here are some pictures and videos from his dog day out yesterday with one of our incredible volunteers, (give her a follow on IG, she posts lots of our babies on their adventures!). Hugo spent most of his day out napping in the sun and on the comfy couch, taking some breaks to watch the world go by outside. A nice break from the noisy shelter!

He doesn't need much- just love, a couple of leisurely walks, a comfy bed and the occasional treat. While he may be old in age, he is young at heart and has his puppy eyes mastered for when he wants to con you into sharing your snacks with him.

You guys may recognize me if you follow on IG or K9 Ground Search - Elgin / Middlesex on Facebook. I'm the dog that was tied up and left outside the shelter a few weeks ago.

I thought for sure my dad would be right back for me but unfortunately, despite me waiting patiently like the good boy I am, he never came back.. :( I wish he could have at least left a note for my new friends here, it would have been really comforting just to hear my real name again, or let them know a little about me. They gave me a new name though, I'm still getting used to it but I think it suits me pretty well..

I don't know why my dad dumped me. I may be a big boy and my cropped ears try to make me look tough, but the truth is I'm just a big, cuddly, silly teddy bear 🥰

I am a big baby that LOVES to love, I want to be cuddled and with my people alllll the time! I get super excited to see my friends and meet new people, my tail is always wagging. I will give you big, sloppy kisses and watch you with eyes just like this "😍". I am very good on my leash, I will walk right beside you and watch you for direction, but sometimes I can pull if there's somebody I REALLY want to meet! You can never have enough friends, you know?

I am good with most dogs but take some time to warm up at first, so it may take a couple good walks to establish a bond with any new siblings for me. Cats are a little freaky, but I could probably live with one as long as my new family teaches me how to act appropriately with them.

The staff here can't believe I haven't been adopted yet, they know that once an adopter comes to meet me, it'll be love at first sight!

I really miss being a part of a family. I don't like sleeping alone in the kennel, it's lonely here at night and I just want to be somebody's best friend again.. If you think you could use a big boy like me to snuggle with at night, please call my friends to set up a meet & greet!

Want kitten cuddles but not ready for the lifetime commitment? Craving soft purrs and meows but can't afford the financial burden of pet ownership?

Try fostering! We supply all the food, vetting and other supplies while you provide the loving home 🥰

We have been receiving many kittens recently that are too small or fragile for adoption. We like to keep kittens in foster homes until they are about 8-10 weeks old! All you need is a room to keep them in, lots of love to give and a car to transport them to and from the shelter for their vet appointments ❤️. We will train and guide you every step of the way!

It's me! The Big Steppa!

I'm a super rambunctious, friendly, quirky dude that loves to stand out from the crowd. I love everybody I meet and I am always full of beans! I would love to find an active family that will play with me and take me for long walks :)

I'm an obedient guy that likes to take big steps, like I'm prancing around. I don't know a whole lot yet but I would love to learn, if you'd like to be my teacher! I also like to spin around in circles when I'm excited, just another one of my quirks. The staff at the shelter like to joke that I'm an XL Jack Russell Terrier, because I look and act like one... Just... In a giant body :D

Other dogs are okaaaaay, I guess. I would be happiest as the only pet in the house but could probably settle for a home with a calm dog that allows me to be the boss. I think I'd also do best in a home without small kids too. They're cute and fun, don't get me wrong! I just don't quite know my size and I'd probably knock them over trying to play 🫣 I'd feel terrible if I accidentally hurt somebody!
