Hey friends!

Thanks for sticking by us and our small business as we navigate life after the death of my mom and grandma earlier this year.

Things are feeling easier and lighter but some days are sad and that’s when I just make a lot more art!

I am starting to put together plans for some workshops in the Fall/Winter.

Enjoyed being in a natural ink making class taught by at

To make the inks we used foraged juniper, buckthorn, sumac, wild plum, black walnut and acorn caps.

As usual, blue is hard to achieve naturally but we gained some results from red cabbage and shifting colour with different additives like white wine, lemon juice, or alum.

Going to do some work testing for lightfastness to see how well the inks hold up over time and exposure to light.

The process of making the natural inks is intriguing and inviting to me. Excited to incorporate this more into my art practice.

This is our second year partnering with the and we have launched our colouring contest for the kids and we also started a corner of our community quilt project! Once the quilt is finished we have plans to donate it to charity!

The colouring contest is open to persons ages 0 to 18 year old. One (1) entry per person. Age categories for this contest are as follows:
⭐️ under 5 years old
⭐️ 6-9 years old
⭐️ 10-13 years old
⭐️ 14-18 years old

Winners will be notified by email or phone by August 31, 2025. Each age category winner will receive a (1) prize basket of age appropriate art supplies/materials from CXN Studio and KCM bucks that can be used at the Komoka Community Market by the end of the 2025 market season!

Make sure to come find our HUGE tent and work on your colouring page and add a fabric swatch or some stitches to the community quilt!

Tonight needed a permanent recognition on our feed cause it was so much fun! Thanks to and for hosting such a great fundraiser to support the services of the Unity Project. Always love listen to my beautiful sister singing and I even stepped out of my own box and got a portrait drawn by .indiano ! Part of my spinning certificate program is to investigate as many different breeds as possible to expand my skillset as a spinner. My next assignment on the docket is hand processing the 20+ different raw fleeces I have out in the garage (for my teachers reading this… yes, I did NOT slowly build my breed book and will be completing this in the next 3 months). Before I jump on that task, I have decided to treat myself with practicing with commercially prepped fibre of the different breeds to make sure I know what I am doing. So thankful that put together this 35 breed bundle for me! I might try to share more about my journey through the different breeds for those of you who want to learn alongside me!

This past fall I took an Introduction to Blackwork class with Liz Bell through the Canadian Embroiders Guild London Chapter and was inspired to take on a sampler project! ✨

A sampler project means that you create small boxed sections and in each section you practice a different pattern or technique. Doing a sampler project allows for you to be able to practice and expand your stitch work and you end up with a beautiful piece at the end with lots of variety within the finished product.

I chose to do a sampler project that would emulate the Death Star from Star Wars, fusing my love for stitching and my sci-fi! This piece was gifted to my brother-in-latta, who is always hard to buy for 💕

Sampler pattern was sourced from Etsy and tweaked by me to fit my liking and artistic flare!

We recently discovered POSCA paint markers and dove straight into creating with these vibrant colours! The markers are so smooth and the paint drys quickly and you can layer the colours with no smudging! So in love!

My two girls have been leaning into their creativity more everyday and have been growing so much as Jr. artists. Over the March break, they took it upon themselves to set goals for the amount of product they wanted to make for our markets. They worked so hard to make things like bracelets, cards, design journal covers, magnets and even launched their own DIY craft kit of a felt magic wand! At our first spring market, they took the lead talking to customers about their art, our business and even processed most of the payments! So proud of you girlies!
