A Dog Is Not a Statue! 😄
Over the years, I've noticed that a surprising number of dogs absolutely HATE having their front paws touched. They might be perfectly fine with everything else, but the moment you reach for a front paw — no, thank you! 😂
Ears, tails, and faces can be another story too. Sometimes trimming around an ear turns into quite a negotiation.
But there's something important to remember. It's not always about personality or being stubborn. A dog might have a sore ear, painful joints, or some other discomfort that isn't immediately obvious. And senior dogs? Standing on a grooming table for a long time can be hard work, especially when their joints aren't what they used to be.
If a dog suddenly becomes nervous or starts resisting something they were previously comfortable with, I pay attention. Sometimes it's a sign that something is bothering them, and I may suggest having a vet check them out.
Dogs are not models. They don't stand perfectly still while we work on making them beautiful. Dogs move, sit down, turn their heads, pull their paws away, and sometimes decide they've had enough. That's just part of grooming.
And I'm working with sharp scissors and clippers, not a magic wand! 😄
I always try to do as much as the dog will safely allow. But if a dog is frightened, struggling, or uncomfortable, I'm not going to force things just to get that last little bit of hair perfect.
After all, have you ever tried explaining to a dog that you just need to trim ONE more paw? Trust me, they're not interested in negotiating! 😂
Thank you for understanding and trusting me with your little furry family members! ❤️🐾
