Alvesta Farm Welsh Ponies Welsh Pony Section A & B breeding program working to produce true-to-type, big-moving ponies.

Founded in 1966, Alvesta Farm is a Section A & B Welsh Pony breeding program. We aim to breed quality, true-to-type ponies with the temperament, conformation, and movement to excel across disciplines. We currently stand four stallions:

So excited about this filly—the third Gwerthfawr daughter we’ve retained. Gloriana is a total character and beyond sensible, plus, we think she’s quite the stunner. ❤️ To still be getting quality Gwyn daughters at his age (23) is a real gift.

What a mare Islyn Gwerthfawr has been for us. She was imported as a cross for our Nerwyn Gwyn, and they’ve given us three exceptional fillies: Islyna, Gwynfydol, and Gloriana. Our evergreen Gwyn is now 23, but showing no signs of slowing down, so hopefully there will be more to come from these two.

Gwerthfawr was also put to Delami Red Legend, with the hope the result would be a good filly we could put back to Gwyn, and we couldn’t have gotten more lucky with the lovely Isadora, who has joined our broodmare band.

Our [at the time] young stallion, Alvesta Infinity, was also put to her, which produced Gwerthfawr’s sole c**t, the unflappable Gwydion, who is off in South Carolina with Claire Reid in his pleasure driving career (pairs and four in hand), as is his sister, Islyna, in Ontario with Jen Robertson. Gwerthfawr’s other three fillies remain with us, as part of the next generation of our program.

More than the type and movement she produces, she also produces great minds. Gwerthfawr is so smart and easy to handle, and she teaches her babies to be brave and friendly. She’s been an all-around incredible mare for us.

Our tremendous thanks to Islyn Stud for breeding such a beautiful, intelligent, and sensible mare—and allowing her to venture all the way to Canada. We are so grateful.

Stallion & show prospect: Alvesta Rhys. We think he’s coming along really nicely. And so impressed with this boy’s temperament—couldn’t ask for more from a yearling c**t. ❤️

Today, pulled him out of the boy pasture and walked him over to the main yard, where all the stallions were calling. He was so sensible and is always easy to lead. Let him loose and took a little video—which was not easy, because he kept coming to me instead of running around, even when I shook a bag at him, the brave little character. So we wrapped up and went for a walk around the farm, and as usual, despite all the excitement, he loved going on an adventure and was thoughtful and smart about the obstacles. And the whole time, he was nosing for scratches and cuddles. Absolutely love this boy.
