A LITTLE SCARE, BUT TODAY THEY’RE DOING WELL! 🧡

Two days ago, little Spooky gave her foster mama, Kelly, a real scare. After a good feeding and lots of energy, Spooky suddenly took a turn about an hour later. She was lying on her side, extremely lethargic, unable to even lift her head, and struggling with very laboured breathing. 😢

Pumpkin wasn’t quite acting like his usual self either, so Kelly jumped into action! She made sure both little ones were kept nice and warm and started giving them small amounts of syrup to help bring their blood sugar back up.

Thankfully, today, both Spooky and Pumpkin are doing well! ❤️ These little ones can sure keep us on our toes, and we’re grateful to have dedicated foster moms like Kelly watching over them.

🏡 HELP US BUILD A BIGGER FUTURE FOR ANIMALS LIKE SPOOKY & PUMPKIN!

We’re still fundraising toward a permanent home for BHARS, giving us the space and resources to help more animals in need. Every donation brings us one step closer to making that happen!

❤️ You’ll find our GoFundMe link in our bio and comments. Every dollar makes a difference!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored 6 of our 20 shelters. Your support makes a real difference for cats facing the harsh realities of outdoor life. ❤️

These shelters are available by donation, but please know that if you can’t afford to donate, we will NEVER turn you away. Every cat deserves a warm, safe place to sleep, regardless of their human’s financial situation.

🍬 MEET MAMA TAFFY AND HER LITTLE SWEET TREATS! 🍬

It’s time to introduce Mama Taffy and her four adorable kittens: Toffee, Reese, Tootsie, and Licorice! ❤️ This lovely little family is now settled into a wonderful foster home, getting all the love and care they deserve.

You may remember the two tiny bottle babies who came into rescue at the exact same time, from the very same property. We initially believed they were Taffy’s kittens, but unfortunately, they weren’t nursing and were beginning to fade. They needed immediate intervention, and our wonderful foster Kelly stepped in to bottle-feed them and provide the round-the-clock care they needed.

As they’ve grown, we’ve started to question whether they actually belong to Taffy, as they’re considerably smaller than the kittens she’s caring for.

And now, thanks to Kelly, those two little fighters finally have names!

🎃 Pumpkin is our little orange boy.
👻 Spooky is our tiny black girl.

We’re so happy to see everyone doing well and getting the care they need!

These are exactly the kinds of animals who could benefit from BHARS having a dedicated space of our own. We’re working hard to make that vision a reality through our GoFundMe. Check out the pinned comment to learn how you can help!

OVER 700 ANIMALS RESCUED. NOW WE NEED ROOM TO HELP MORE! 🐾

❤️ Our goal: $20,000 toward a down payment on a permanent BHARS home. Donate to our GoFundMe, link in bio and comments!

Since BHARS began in February 2023, we’ve rescued over 700 animals, with more than half of them in the last year alone. Animals like Sarah, the cat from our video this morning, are why we need more room.

The requests for help keep growing, but too often we have to say no because we simply lack the space and resources. We’re ready to change that! We’ve identified a couple of potential locations, and a down payment would help us secure a permanent home. We’re also pursuing grant opportunities to help develop the space.

🏡 PROPERTY OWNERS: WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
Do you own a farm property with a shop, commercial building, or industrial bay of 2,000+ square feet? We’re looking in Eastern Rocky View County and potentially Kneehill County, including Irricana, Beiseker, Acme, Linden, Langdon and surrounding areas. We’re open to purchasing, leasing, donated use, or other creative arrangements. Your property could be where hundreds more animals get their second chance. Message us!

🧾 BHARS is a registered charity. GoFundMe donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt through PayPal Giving Fund.

Can’t donate through GoFundMe? See our bio for other ways to give.

We’ve shown what we can do with limited resources. Imagine what we could do with the right space. Help us grow. Help us save more lives, and please share this post to help us reach more people. 🐾

❤️ SARAH’S STILL FIGHTING, AND SO ARE WE. ❤️

Sarah has been with BHARS since September 2025, when she came into our care as one of 45 animals rescued from a difficult situation on a farm in southern Alberta.

All 45 were fixed, vaccinated, dewormed and given permanent identification. Many returned to their outdoor homes with ongoing support, but 21 were friendly enough or medically vulnerable enough to remain in rescue. One by one, they’ve found their forever homes. Sarah is the last one still waiting.

And this girl has been through SO much.

She’s battled repeated respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, and we were preparing her for a dental procedure that will likely require the removal of all her teeth due to a disease affecting her entire mouth. Then, during her pre-dental bloodwork, we discovered she also has FIP.

But Sarah keeps fighting. And as long as she’s fighting, we’re right there with her. ❤️

She’s now receiving treatment for FIP, and we’re very encouraged by how well she’s responding! Unfortunately, that stubborn upper respiratory infection still makes breathing difficult at times, so we’re doing what we can to help her feel more comfortable. Today, that meant a little steam session in the bathroom to help moisten her airways and ease her breathing.

This little girl has endured more in her short life than any cat should have to, yet she continues to push forward.

Sarah, we’ve got you, sweetheart. We’re going to keep showing up, keep fighting for you and keep giving you every chance to heal. You just keep doing what you’re doing. ❤️🐾

❤️ Two little fighters, making us cautiously optimistic! ❤️

We have a little update on our two tiny survivors! 🐾 Their foster mama, Kelly, has confirmed that our little black kitten is a girl and our little orange kitten is a boy.

We often turn to our wonderful followers for help naming our newest arrivals, but this time, we’re doing something a little different. ❤️ We’re leaving the honour to Kelly, who has worked so hard to bring these two little fighters back from the brink. We think she’s earned the privilege of choosing the most perfect names for them!

These little ones are doing SO well, and while we’re not ready to let our guard down just yet, we’re cautiously optimistic that they’ll continue to gain strength and thrive.

A huge thank you to Kelly for giving these babies the chance they needed. Sometimes, the smallest fighters just need someone willing to fight alongside them. ❤️🐾

🐈🐈‍⬛ These fuzzy little hamsters… AKA KITTENS are great! 😂❤️

We’re thrilled to report that these tiny fighters made it through the night! Even better, they’re now doing their business all on their own, which means a litter box has officially entered the picture. 🎉🐾

After a rough start, every little milestone feels like a BIG victory, and we’re so pleased to share this good news with everyone who’s been rooting for them! ❤️

Their journey isn’t over yet, and they still need our help! Caring for tiny kittens takes time, supplies, and resources, and the costs add up quickly.

🙏 If you’re able, please consider donating to help us give these little babies the care they need to thrive. Every contribution makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this post helps us reach others who can!

These little fighters are doing their part. Let’s give them the best chance possible! 🐱💕
