Fun Filled Friday with 4 great handlers! Scenarios included lineups, large 16 acre field & stream side targets. Teams did great managing scenarios & distractions including a wild turkey flying in front of of sweet Penny 😳 Thanks to .and.penny & .canine for coming out 😁

Part 2 Training Day with Arlo & Serrano. Interior target set in a beautiful old barn. Set up was elevated about 30” inside a cupboard. Super happy with how both dogs worked this scenario! Big thanks to property owners who let me work my pups both in the barn & out on the land today!

Part 1 of our Training Day with Arlo & Serrano ☀️ weather was stellar! This reel captures a bit of our exterior search - about 15 Acres - as seen on the map it’s spread out. Each dog searched almost 40 mins & travelled over 3kms = great endurance training. Very happy with Serrano’s coverage, Arlo is improving his ranging skills & his recall was perfect. Huge gratitude to friends who allow us access to their property to train our dogs! 👏 Stay tuned for Part 2, the interior searches.

STRESS IN DOGS — BUILDING RESILIENCE

Confidence is not a dog that never feels stress.

Real confidence is a dog that CAN feel pressure…
and still cope without falling apart.

That’s resilience.

A resilient dog:

• notices pressure
• thinks through it
• recovers quickly
• stays engaged
• and comes out the other side better

You do NOT build resilience by:

• flooding the dog
• overwhelming them
• or avoiding everything completely

Both extremes create problems.

The sweet spot is controlled challenge.

Just enough pressure for the dog to:
• notice it
• work through it
• and succeed

That’s where growth happens.

Resilient dogs are built through:

• gradual exposure
• structure
• clear guidance
• controlled environments
• proper recovery
• learning to switch off
• and being allowed to problem-solve

A good dog is not one that never struggles.

It’s one that has learned:
“I’ve handled this before. I can cope.”

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is better recovery, better decisions, and better coping over time.
