Leona helped 'Chef Scott' and 'Fundraiser Megan' gather the fresh produce that The Jungle Farm has been donating to the Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter all season. Today is World Kindness Day, and we appreciate these caring folks who have been driving down to the farm each week to lend a hand to the people in their care.

We have began the the preparation for our next growing season. The fields are covered with straw for the winter months. The strawberry fields have been covered with fabric mulch for several weeks now. It's important that this work is done to impact our next growing season. Straw bedding provides insulation, prevents soil erosion and compaction, and maintains consistent soil moisture and temperature over the winter. With the plant material (leaves, roots and plants) that was tilled into the soil, our fields are bedded down to rest, rejuvenate and regenerate - and set a strong and healthy foundation for next year's bounty!
