Why I won’t do a hair cut without a bath, or do an express service.

We’re in 2026 and everyone wants things done instantly. I get it. I don’t want to wait for anything either, but patience is key and anything we wait for is usually better than the quick instant result.

Imagine your hair is super greasy, has a couple big knots in it, and maybe a couple sticks, I don’t know what you like to do for fun. Now you give your self a hair cut. You didn’t brush your hair or anything the knots and sticks were all in there but you decided you needed it cut right that second. The next day you pick out the sticks, brush out the knots as best you can then wash, condition and blow dry your hair. You look in the mirror and it’s completely jagged right? You cut it while it wasn’t laying properly at all. This is a huge reason why a bath and blow out is vital to giving your dog a hair cut as well.

Not only that but my tools stuuggggllleee to get through a dirty coat,(which also causes an uneven cut) it’s dulls my blades and over heats my clipper. When the coat is clean and prepped my tools can glide effortlessly though the fur giving it a nice finish.
Coat prep is also important as it’s when I notice changes in your dogs skin, if they have any new lumps or bumps, and if they have any other concerning friends in their coats. (fleas or ticks) not to mention who really wants me to give their dog a terrible hair cut and then send them home stinky?! No one. So that’s why a bath is so important to the process. I won’t skip it so you can save money.. and no I won’t let you bath them at home, it needs to be done properly and throughly in shop. if anything skipping a bath will cost you more money because you’ll need to replace my blades.
Trust the process 🐾🫧🛁

Why I never ever recommend using a Furminator.
Furminator has become a household well known name in the pet community. Without proper knowledge it would seem like the perfect solution. It pulls hair out of your dog and looks like it’s helping with shedding. The reality is,
It’s a blade. It’s pulling out under coat, it’s pulling out healthy coat that needs to be there and it’s cutting your dogs coat. You are not brushing your dog, you’re dragging a blade over their coat. Not only is it damaging but if not used carefully you could cut your dogs skin.
When I was in college we were told to dull furminators on pavement so they are not as sharp.
Using them as a brush can cause serious damage to your dogs coat. Things like loss of under coat and alopecia.
I don’t use them in my spa. With proper coat prep and products, the fur that needs to come out should come out with the dryer and a metal comb. It takes a little more time and energy but removes the hair safely and maintains the quality of your dogs coat!
Remember the under coat is important, it helps your dog to maintain their body temperature in hot and cold weather, the last thing you want is to damage it.
For safe brushing I always recommend a slicker brush and metal comb. A pin rake also works wonders!
The Furminator is a shortcut that seems great at first but can can have lasting negative effects on your dogs coat!

Appointment alert! 🚨
I have a last min appointment available June 15th at 9am. I could fit a small dog full hair cut, or bath and blow out for a small-large dog with no trimming!

Happy long weekend! ☀️It wasn’t very long for me, I worked today but hopefully you got to enjoy the warm weather!

On a fun note welcome to the family, Theo! This sweet boy is the son of Joey (who was in the last post I believe) he did fabulous for his introduction to grooming 💕

I know I still have a few of Rose’s clients who follow me on here so I thought I would do a little update!

She’s Doing amazing things in her new space! You can follow her on instagram at
We stay and in touch and share photos of the dogs we used to groom together. She even did me the HUGEST favour and got one of my clients in so that he wouldn’t miss his regular grooming while I was away for a couple of weeks. First photo is the beautiful job she did on Theo! 🥰
Thanks again Rose!

The rest are some pups from this week, I’ve been working really long days to get back on track after being closed for nearly 2 week.

No trip or vacation of mine is ever complete without trying to squeeze in as many animal encounters as possible.

And of course the first two boys I saw since being home.

I’m still working away at answering all the messages. Keeping in mind, I’m fully booked for May!

which means no more frozen pipes!!
Woooo hoooo!!!
Buuuuut,
my outlets are tripping constantly and my hot water on demand isn’t very on demand.. if anyone knows anything about these systems, your advice would be greatly appreciated! The whole waiting 10-15 mins for warm water isn’t very fun when it supposed to be on demand.. 🤔

Enjoy a few cute smiles while I wait the 10-15 mins for warm water 😅
