📣 Off-leash untrained dogs are not just a risk to other dogs — they’re a risk to everyone.
Many owners have spent months or even years working to help their dogs feel confident, safe, and under control. One poor interaction can undo all that progress, all that hard work.
❌Not every dog wants or can handle interactions with other dogs — and that’s okay.
Many dogs can be:
* In training or rehabilitation
* Fearful or reactive
* Recovering from surgery or trauma
* A senior with health issues or disabled
* Service dogs with a job to do
An off-leash dog running up, even playfully, can trigger fear, panic, or a defensive response. This could result in fights, injuries, or long-term behavioural setbacks.
🦮People have the right to walk in public without being approached or charged by an off leash dog.
You don’t know everyone, take into consideration:
* People are afraid of dogs
* Seniors who may be knocked over easily
* Runners, cyclists, and those with disabilities
* Individuals recovering from trauma or phobias
Any dog can cause injury, fear or cause discomfort and in worst case scenarios, death.
😳Allowing your dog off leash without a solid recall can cause traumatic experiences for not only you, but everyone involved!
* Getting hit by a car
* Chasing wildlife or another animal
* Approaching a reactive or aggressive dog
* Becoming lost or disoriented
A leash gives you control in unpredictable environments. It’s your dog’s safety line… literally. Be smart. Be respectful. Be a responsible dog owner.
Using a leash in on-leash areas and having a solid recall in off-leash areas shows that you not only respect the people and animals around you but it signals that you’re a responsible dog owner who cares about their dogs safety and safety of others.
When everyone follows the rules, shared spaces stay safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all types of dogs and people.
Let’s stop unclipping the leash and hoping for the best. Instead how about you…
🐾 Leash up.🐾 Stay aware.🐾 Respect the space.
