Meet one of our two featured beneficiaries for Deck The Paws: A Christmas Market — Salty Animal Rescue 🤍🐾

Salty Animal Rescue is a small, volunteer-run organization dedicated to changing the lives of vulnerable animals in our community through a quality-over-quantity approach to care, rehabilitation and responsible placement.

Their work includes helping animals at risk of euthanasia in Southern Ontario shelters, while also advocating and educating around the ongoing animal welfare crisis in our province.

On November 29th, a portion of the support raised through Deck The Paws will help Salty Animal Rescue continue giving animals like the ones you see here the care, time and second chances they deserve. ❤️

Salty Animal Rescue is one of two rescues we’re proud to support this year, alongside Inugoya Rehoming & Rehabilitation — who we’ll be introducing a little more very soon!

Skye is ADOPTED!

The sweetest girl has found the perfect family to give her everything she needs and more.

We believe Skye didn’t get the start to life she deserved. She was found dragging a chain in Stoney Creek after breaking free from a home that didn’t even care to look for her. She landed in our local shelter, where she was initially labelled aggressive.

A few of the humans there knew that behind that scared Sheppy bark was an amazing dog unfairly labelled. Likely due to her breed and the fact that it’s traumatizing for these animals to go from everything they’ve always known to then through the scary shelter process.

Sadly dogs like Skye are often at risk in Ontario shelters. Backyard breeding, neglect, irresponsible ownership and humans failing to give animals what they need due to simple inconvenience means innocent good dogs like her don’t get the chance they deserve.

Skye got her second chance.

She now has two doggy siblings to keep her company, two humans committed to giving her the active life she needs, and a future full of love and spoils.

The biggest thank you to Skye’s foster mom, Jordan Jordan Rychlik for being the reason Skye got this opportunity. She always puts her whole heart into every animal she fosters. Skye was no exception.

She will be very missed but this is what it’s all about!

Thank you to every person who helped Skye get here. Your support is the only reason we can have these success stories.

Happy tails Skye!

How is our guy Dale here still waiting for his forever home?

He’s officially the last pick of the litter. It’s such a shame because he’s such a special little guy.

Dale is 4 months old now. He was found trying to survive outside in the Westdale area with his mom and siblings.

He has been making a ton of progress in his foster home. His foster mom Kayla Tamae has had nothing but great things to say about him. He’s become a big snuggler and is definitely a favourite out of the many kitties she’s fostered!

He’s such a silly guy and such a Dale.

We think he could work in a home with kids or dogs if they have people willing to put in the extra time to help him become a brave boy. Quieter would be preferred at first but once he gain that confidence he’s a whole new guy. He would love a playful kitty friend or he could even be adopted with his mama Kip. He likes noisy toys, and cuddles will be a must.

It may take him a little time to come around at first, but then he becomes the biggest love bug. He just needs the right people to give him a chance. Our most scared, previously outdoor babies always end up being the biggest snugglers.

We are looking for forever homes that will put them first and give them anything they may need, and more, for their whole lives.

They will only go to adopters who are prepared, willing, and able to work with any health or behavioural issues should problems arise in the future (and they always do!).

If interested, please fill out an application on our website.

Sunny is the best mom, but struggling a bit trying to adjust to her littles being on the move😂

She’s such a silly girl and so full of love. She’s come a long way from her shelter days.

She’ll be in for her vetting and spay soon enough and then off to forever. Whoever ends up getting to adopt her is so lucky!

Mama Kipling “Kip” is still waiting for one whole adoption application to come in with her name one it.

She is fully vetted and still waiting to find forever.

Kip and her 4 babes were living outside in the Westdale area. She’s said to have been outside for quite some time, but she’s social enough that she must have been inside at some point.

She’s been making a lot of progress but can still be shy and does take a little time to warm up and get used to her new environment.

Once you’ve gained her trust, she’s a very sweet girl and has the happiest purr. A bit of patience is always worth it.

We know she has a ton of potential with the right person willing to give her a chance!

I wish more people were open to the shy guys. With a bit of time and understanding they always come around.

Kippie has had some intros to the resident kitties, and she would enjoy a cat friend in the home. Or she could be adopted with her son, Dale!

She may work in a home with a dog, depending on the dog and with time to get used to them.

Kiddos would be similar. If it were a calmer home with a family willing to put in the extra socializing work, it’s likely she would adjust after some time!

Overall, Kippie is a sweet Tort that just needs a little love and time to come around. She would prefer a quieter, slower paced lifestyle.

Most importantly, she deserves a family committed to giving her only the best for the rest of her life.

If you think you may be the right fit for Kippie, please fill out an adoption application!

I’ve been trying to have a small little rescue break this week, but instead we’ve been stuck at home giving butt baths to these two!

Suri and Soleil are officially 4 weeks old tomorrow and have started eating big kid food. That usually means if they aren’t covered in meat, they’re covered in p**p.

They’re getting some Bene-Bac with their food, will have the usual deworming, and we’ll be sending in another f***l if necessary.

They may be literal stinkers, but they’re the sweetest little nuggets!

Mama Sunny continues to be the best girl, and whoever ends up getting to adopt her once she’s done with mom life and fully vetted/spayed will be so lucky!

We’ll be back to the usual rescue programming and answering all the things Monday!

We are still accepting adoption applications for Skye!

Skye
1.5
Good with dogs
Cats with proper intro
Kid potential
High energy
Fully vetted/hips cleared
Adoption fee: $550

We are being extra picky because the very best match is what she deserves.

Skye was found as a “stray” dragging a large chain before ending up at our local shelter. Shepherds rarely do well in a shelter setting and we couldn’t say no to taking her on.

Skye seemed to lack exposure to a lot of things when she first arrived at her foster home and was a bit insecure. Thanks to Jordan, she’s thriving and has shown just how much of an amazing dog she really is.

Skye is a goofy, happy girl and has been nothing but a love bug while in our care. She has a surprisingly low level of reactivity for a Shepherd. She’s great in her crate, does well in the car and loves a good belly rub. If you have a love for GSDs, she’s your girl!

She is young and is still working on her manners. She can be a bit play mouthy and jumps up when excited, so small children may not be the best fit. She’s been a sweet girl with kids around in a controlled setting.

She’s a good girl around the kitties in her foster home, after learning that chasing them isn’t their favourite thing. She’s been really great with other dogs and would love a buddy.

Skye will benefit from continued training. Providing structure/boundaries will ensure that she keeps the label of “goodest girl ever”. She would do best with people that understand and respect the breed and are willing to set her up for success.

Crating is a requirement. She can be an opportunist if left out and will chew through a tether if she can. She loves her crate and it keeps her safe when she can’t be supervised!

Skye loves joining her foster mom for canicross. She’s a working breed and needs the necessary physical and mental stimulation to help her thrive. She would prefer to find a family that will make sure she gets to enjoy even more outdoor adventures!

If interested, please fill out an application on our website. If we think you may be a match we will contact you!
