Question: Is Bordetella (sometimes called kennel cough) the same as Canine Influenza?

While both can affect your dog’s respiratory system, Canine Influenza is causedby a virus, whereas Bordetella is caused by bacteria, often Bordetella bronchiseptica. Unlike Bordetella, Canine Influenza often spreads before symptoms appear and can make your dog feel much sicker.

Both are highly contagious and can spread through contact with an infected dog or through objects such as food and water bowls, toys, balls, etc. Vaccinations can protect your dog from Canine Influenza and Bordetella, so it’s best to speak with their veterinarian about ways to keep them protected, especially if they frequent areas where dogs gather, such as dog parks, boarding facilities, and pet events.

Take a look at the most common signs for Canine Influenza and Bordetella. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to contact their veterinarian.

In dogs, the most common cause of an intestinal blockage is foreign objects like toys, clothing, bones, or rocks getting stuck in the digestive tract, that can lead to complete or partial obstruction.

Take a look at the most common signs of an intestinal blockage. If you suspect your dog has a blockage, it’s important to contact their veterinarian or an emergency hospital right away.
