Kindred Paws Bakery

We started Kindred Paws Bakery to honour our old boy Zorro and help our new pup Churro with his sensitive stomach. One variable we removed was beef.

After testing simple, healthy recipes we now make small-batch dog treats we feel good about giving — and hope you do too. In early spring of 2025 and after 8 great years with him, we said goodbye to our pup Zorro (aka “the old man”). It’s a memory that still hurts, but at 15 and suffering, it was the right decision. Fast forward to July, when Mama Bear came across an SPCA notice about a 2-year-old who had been waiting since December. I didn’t think I was ready, but I agreed to foster him. After a long drive, we spent an hour getting used to each other before heading home. He was anxious, whining and pacing as far as his seatbelt allowed. I reached back to scratch him… and he laid down with my arm as his pillow. By the time we got home, played in the backyard, and napped in the sun, I turned to my wife and said, “I think we’re going to be a foster fail.” A week later, Churro was officially ours. We were told he had a sensitive stomach, and we were determined to help him. After probiotics, antibiotics, different foods, vet visits, and eventually discovering he had cryptorchidism, the diarrhea still wouldn’t resolve. No liver treats for now — so what could we give him? A couple days of Google research later, we found a simple baked pumpkin, peanut butter, and oat treat. After several iterations, and with my wife’s encouragement, Kindred Paws Bakery was born — honouring the old man and our crazy teenager. We aim to make treats we feel genuinely good about giving. I even keep them in my daypack now as an emergency snack for both Churro and me. We hope your pup enjoys them as much as we do.

Well, that was a whole lot of dogs. 😂🐾💛

Two days at the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta event, countless treat inspections, some very enthusiastic taste testers, and more adorable faces than we could possibly fit into one post.

A huge thank-you to everyone who stopped by our table, supported our little bakery, shared a story about their dog, or brought their four-legged family members over to say hello. Meeting all of you is one of our favourite parts of doing this.

And thank you to SCARS, the volunteers, and everyone who helped make the weekend happen. We loved being part of an event that brings so many animal lovers together.

We came home with tired feet, a camera roll full of dogs, and absolutely no complaints. 🦴💛

Here are just a few of the faces that made our weekend.

Day 1 of the SCARS Fall Market is in the books! 🐾💛

We met some pretty wonderful new friends yesterday, and a few of them were kind enough to pose for photos. Others were more interested in getting straight to the treats. Fair enough. 😂

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, brought their pups for a visit, or let us borrow their dogs for a little taste-testing.

We’re back today at the Alberta Aviation Museum from 11 AM–4 PM for day two!

More dogs, more treats, and hopefully a few more new friends. 🦴

A little look around before things get busy! 🐾

We’re all set up at the SCARS Fall Market at the Alberta Aviation Museum, surrounded by some pretty great local vendors.

We’ve brought the usual favourites, plus samples of our new Strawberry Banana Bites for any dogs willing to offer a professional opinion. 🍓🍌

Here today until 5 PM, and back tomorrow from 11 AM–4 PM!

Pre-market packing is mostly a game of “Did we already put that in the car?” 😂🐾

One thing we're definitely remembering this weekend: samples of our freeze-dried Strawberry Banana Bites! 🍓🍌

We've got a few versions ready for sampling, including two with carrot. Different recipes, slightly different colours, and we're letting the dogs help us decide which one makes the cut. 🐾

We need some feedback. Enthusiasm and brutal honesty encouraged. 😁

We'll have samples at the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta Fall Market this weekend.

📍 Alberta Aviation Museum
11410 Kingsway Ave, Edmonton

🗓️ Saturday, October 24: 11 AM–5 PM
🗓️ Sunday, October 25: 11 AM–4 PM

And as a reminder, we're donating 10% of our weekend sales to SCARS. 💛

Bring your toughest critic. We'd love to hear what they think!

There’s been a lot of very serious bakery business around here lately. New flavours, new names, markets, menus…

Churro would like to remind everyone that this is, first and foremost, a dog account with a side hustle. 😂🐾

No announcements today. Nothing to sell.

Just a very important dog who would appreciate it if someone would throw the ball. 💛

10/21/2026

Your dog would like to remind you that shopping for a good cause still counts as shopping for the dog. Convenient, really. 😂🐾

This weekend, we’re heading to the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta Fall Market in Edmonton! 🍂💛

It’s a pet-friendly market featuring local vendors, food trucks, raffles, and a cause that’s close to our hearts — helping rescue animals get the second chances they deserve.

And we’re putting a little extra purpose behind every purchase. ❤️

Kindred Paws Bakery will be donating 10% of our sales from the weekend to SCARS!

We’ll also be handing out samples of our new freeze-dried Strawberry Banana Bites. 🍓🍌 We’re looking forward to hearing what some new four-legged taste testers think!

The leaves are fake. The dog snacks are very real. 🍂😂🐾

We’ve brought a little fall colour (and a whole lot of dog treats) to Falling For Local in Sherwood Park today!

We’re all set up alongside more than 90 local vendors, so there’s plenty of shopping to be done. And if you happen to leave with something for yourself, too, we promise not to tell the dog. 😂

📍 Agora — 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park
⏰ Today, 10 AM–4 PM
🎟️ Free admission

Happy Saturday, everyone! 💛

A little name changing, a little menu updating, and a little something new! 🐾💛

We've made a couple of changes to our pumpkin peanut butter lineup:

🐾 **Treats are now Biscuits.**

🐾 **Trainers are now Bites.**

Same recipes, same crunchy goodness — just new names! Nothing else has changed.

And there's a new addition to the menu:

💜 **Apple Blueberry Bites!** Our freeze-dried bites made with applesauce and blueberries.

The updated menu is below, with all our current products, sizes, and prices.

Take a peek! Your dog's favourites haven't gone anywhere — we've just made room for a few more. 🦴

Apparently, one freeze-dried flavour wasn’t enough. 😂🍓🍌

Introducing our Strawberry Banana Bites!

Made with strawberries and bananas, these little pink bites are light, crunchy, and currently making their way to some very important taste testers.

We’re handing out sample packs while we gather feedback and fine-tune our newest freeze-dried creation.

Churro has a few questions. Most of them involve whether he gets another one. 🐾💛

Have a pup willing to give our Strawberry Banana Bites a try? 🐾🍓 Send us a DM — we're looking for a few more taste testers, and we'd love to hear what your dog thinks!

10/13/2026

Over 90 vendors.

Which means you can absolutely say you’re “just browsing” and then leave with snacks, candles, gifts, home decor, baked goods, three things you didn’t plan on buying, and something for the dog. 🍂😂

Falling For Local (brought to you by Queen of Hearts) is happening October 17 at the Agora in Sherwood Park.

We’ll be there with the dog snacks, because someone at home will know if you came back empty-handed. 🐾🦴
