Kindred Paws Bakery

Kindred Paws Bakery We started Kindred Paws Bakery to honour our old boy Zorro and help our new pup Churro with his sensitive stomach. One variable we removed was beef.

After testing simple, healthy recipes we now make small-batch dog treats we feel good about giving — and hope you do too. In early spring of 2025 and after 8 great years with him, we said goodbye to our pup Zorro (aka “the old man”). It’s a memory that still hurts, but at 15 and suffering, it was the right decision. Fast forward to July, when Mama Bear came across an SPCA notice about a 2-year-old

who had been waiting since December. I didn’t think I was ready, but I agreed to foster him. After a long drive, we spent an hour getting used to each other before heading home. He was anxious, whining and pacing as far as his seatbelt allowed. I reached back to scratch him… and he laid down with my arm as his pillow. By the time we got home, played in the backyard, and napped in the sun, I turned to my wife and said, “I think we’re going to be a foster fail.” A week later, Churro was officially ours. We were told he had a sensitive stomach, and we were determined to help him. After probiotics, antibiotics, different foods, vet visits, and eventually discovering he had cryptorchidism, the diarrhea still wouldn’t resolve. No liver treats for now — so what could we give him? A couple days of Google research later, we found a simple baked pumpkin, peanut butter, and oat treat. After several iterations, and with my wife’s encouragement, Kindred Paws Bakery was born — honouring the old man and our crazy teenager. We aim to make treats we feel genuinely good about giving. I even keep them in my daypack now as an emergency snack for both Churro and me. We hope your pup enjoys them as much as we do.

One year ago today we said goodbye to our old man Zorro. He had deteriorated quickly over a couple of weeks, so after consulting the vet we knew it was time. Telling him he was a good boy for the last time is a memory that still brings tears to my eyes. Right decision or not, it hurts.
Give your four-legged (and two-legged) family members a hug tonight. I wish I could give Zorro one more.

Weekend reset: campfires, chilly wind, and one very dedicated Chief Taste Tester. 🐾🔥❄️
Churro handled patrol duty, lunch supervision, and snacking like a pro.

The Chuckit! launcher saved my shoulder and cranked the nap index to 10/10.
Had some good walks also... and yes, we still packed a bag of Treats (pretty sure I ate more than he did). 😅

If you’re getting outside this week, toss a few Trainers in your pocket — your pup will thank you. 🦴✨

Special shout-out to Dear Dog Treats and their Marrow Medallions — the day was saved when we realized we’d forgotten ours at home and made a quick town run.

New look, same wag-worthy taste! 🐾

We are officially in prep mode for the Chamber Spring Farmers’ Market . Part of that prep meant investing in new packaging and sealing technology to ensure every single bag of treats stays as fresh as possible for as long as possible.

The heat sealer is getting a workout today, and we couldn't be happier with how these look. We can’t wait for you to get your hands on them at our first event of the season!
