Ever wonder if your Betta’s beautiful fins are actually a "heavy" burden? 🐠✨
While long, flowy fins look stunning, they can actually be a health risk for our aquatic friends. When fins get too long or heavy (think Halfmoons or Veiltails), it’s like trying to swim in a heavy ballgown! 👗💦
Here’s why it matters:
🔹 Exhaustion: Heavy fins make swimming a workout, leading to stress and a weaker immune system.
🔹 The Air Struggle: Bettas need to breathe at the surface. If their fins are too heavy, they might struggle to get that gulp of air. 😮‍💨
🔹 Snag Hazards: Longer fins are magnets for sharp decor, leading to tears and the dreaded Fin Rot.
🔹 Self-Nipping: Some Bettas actually bite their own fins just to make swimming easier! 😱
How to be a Betta Hero:
✅ Add a Betta Hammock or broad-leafed plants near the surface for easy resting.
✅ Keep the filter flow gentle—they aren't fans of strong currents!
✅ Swap out plastic plants for silk or live ones to prevent snags.
A little adjustment goes a long way in keeping those "fancy fins" happy and healthy! 💙

Just a friendly reminder. Fish warranty is 72hrs (this info is posted clearly at the front counter). If a fish, snail or shrimp dies within that timeframe please put the body in 1 bag and a water sample for us to test in another bag from the aquarium they were in. If your water sample is clean we will replace the animal in question. If it is high in ammonia or nitrite we will NOT replace but rather help you correct the parameters that caused the death to begin with (send a message to our page if this happens to land on a day we are closed). Our warranty has been the same for 10+ years unchanged.
