Red and blue night lights are actually harming your pets! 🦎🐍
That "Moonlight Blue" or "Nighttime Red" bulb at the pet store? It’s doing way more harm than good.

Here’s why modern reptile science says to turn them off:

👁️ They CAN see the light: Reptiles have amazing color vision. To them, a red or blue bulb isn’t a subtle glow—it’s like sleeping in a neon-lit room.

⚠️ The Long-Term Damage:

• Eye & Vision Loss: Constant exposure to colored wavelengths (especially blue light) causes phototoxic retinopathy, permanently damaging their retinal cells and risking blindness.
• Immune Breakdown: Chronic sleep deprivation destroys their natural circadian rhythm, triggering conditions like Mouth Rot (Infectious Stomatitis) and respiratory infections.
• Behavioral Stress: Constant lighting leads to anorexia (refusal to eat), extreme lethargy, and a shortened lifespan.

Reptiles need 100% total, pitch-black darkness at night to thrive!🌡️ Need night heat instead?

If your room drops below 65°F–70°F (18°C–21°C), switch to a lightless heat source on a thermostat:
