🦷 Setting Your Dog Up for Success at Their Cosmetic Teeth Cleaning Appointment.
A few quick tips to help your pup’s teeth cleaning appointment go as smoothly as possible — and to answer a couple of common questions I hear often!
🐾 Why should my dog walk in instead of being carried?
This one’s especially important for our smaller friends! Letting your dog walk in on their own helps build confidence. Many small dogs are used to being carried, but when they’re here for their appointment — especially without their paWrent present — confidence is key. Walking in gives them a sense of independence and helps them adjust more easily once inside.
💚 Stay calm and confident — it makes a huge difference!
One of the biggest factors in your dog’s comfort is your energy. If you come in happy and relaxed, your dog is more likely to feel the same way. On the other hand, coddling, excessive hugging, or repeatedly saying “It’s okay!” actually reinforces their anxiety and can make things harder for them (and for us). Dogs are incredibly tuned into your emotions — so take a deep breath, smile, and show them that this is no big deal!
🚪 Keep drop-offs quick and positive.
A speedy drop-off helps your dog transition their focus to us right away, which makes the whole process smoother. If you have questions or concerns, it’s best to chat with us over the phone before the appointment so that when you arrive, it’s all about getting your pup settled and ready for their spa appointment!
It’s the little things — like confident walking, calm energy, and a quick goodbye — that make a huge difference in your dog’s experience.
Thanks for helping us set your furry friend up for success (and sparkly clean teeth)!
If you’ve made it this far — today’s extra awkwardness in my video comes at the low cost of our own embarrassment 😅🫶🏻💚
