Friday Fun

Does your cat's resume look like this? 😼 While we love a good laugh, understanding your cat’s natural instincts, like climbing, hunting, and needing personal space, is key to a happy home. What's the best skill your cat has mastered?

You might call it a quirk, but a cat's "weird" behaviour is actually a window into their world. Understanding their unique instincts is the first step to building a stronger bond with your feline friend. They're not just being difficult, they're being a cat!

What is a cat? A cat is exactly that. A cat. And what is a cat NOT? A cat is not a small dog.

This might sound simple, but it's the number one misconception I see as a Cat Behaviour Consultant. We often project a dog's needs onto a cat, expecting them to be social pack animals who thrive on group activities and hierarchy.

But domestic cats are not like dogs. They are solitary hunters with a deeply individualistic nature. Even the most social of cat species, the lion, has a social structure that is fundamentally different from a dog's.

So let's stop treating our felines like small dogs and start celebrating them for exactly who they are: unique, independent, and magnificent predators.

Understanding their true nature is the first step to a happier, healthier cat, and a deeper bond with your best friend.

Celebrating Delilah's 5th Birthday!

Happy 5th birthday to my little chicken coop baby, Delilah (aka Lila)! She's been one of the most delightful cats in my life, with a love for thrills, chills, and those amazing multicoloured toes.

I still remember her tiny face looking up at me as I prepared her kitten formula. It feels like yesterday we were inseparable, with me feeding her from a bottle every few hours, and her making sure I knew it was time for another feeding if I ever dozed off!

Here's to another 5 x forever! ❤️

Is there anything cuter than a cat’s expressive eyes? Nope!

Especially when I’m holding my little shadow, and you can just see the difference in her happy, curious and “I thinks this is enough” 😅.

Paid attention to her subtle cues, she’s now off in post breakfast land!

What do your cats’ eyes tell you?
