One month ago, my cat Theodore was fighting for his life due to a severe urinary obstruction. The warning signs weren’t the dramatic blood or cries we often expect.

As a certified Cat behaviour Consultant, I want to warn you about the subtle shifts that nearly cost him everything: straining, covering nothing, and tiny drops of urine.

This wasn’t stones or crystals—it was Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), driven by stress, that caused a life-threatening blockage.

His recovery, which included 3 days in the hospital, a severe upper respiratory infection, and the challenge of navigating non-recognition aggression with my other cats, was a major journey.

Bedtime Routine

This peaceful moment is built on trust, and that’s the foundation of all good cat behaviour. Cats thrive on routine, which gives them a sense of control over their world. When it comes to affection, that control is just as important! A cat should never be forced to cuddle or be held. They must have the agency to choose. Whether it’s a cuddle, a slow blink from across the room, or just sleeping near you, they all have unique ways of showing love. We build the trust; they choose the connection. That’s the most authentic love there is. What is your routine?

This is exactly why I do what I do. Hearing that Merlin is now happy and doing better after a scary start, where giving medicine felt impossible, is the best reward. Wally’s Crown Birthday

It’s a huge day in the household because King Wally the Ninth is officially celebrating his NINTH birthday! 👑

They call it a “Crown Birthday” when the age matches the date, but let’s be honest—this boy has been wearing the crown, demanding the finest food, and ruling the house 24/7/365 since the day he arrived. His nine years of service as the supreme household dictator have been marked by excellence in napping, precision biscuit-making, and expert-level zoomies.

He demanded I submit a photo of the royal highness to (BT) today! He was quite pleased to see if he could finally get his five seconds of fame outside of the household. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Happy Birthday to my first boy! ❤️🎂
