I am proud to have Dezi as our prospective foundation girl. She’s come such a long way!

💥 BBPIS MBPIG GCH Lilpawz N Bloomsbury Meant to Bean at Essence 💥 has earned some nice titles in the conformation ring, completed her OFA breed certifications and we love to watch how effortlessly she floats around the “big girl” show ring.

🎉 Looking forward to 2026 and all that is to come for this beautiful little Chihuahua.

Here are a few images of our girl working in the ring this past weekend during the Oakville KC show. Dezi was Best of Breed (BOB) on Saturday in a nice size group of entries.

As we reflect on the last year and all that we are grateful for, we look forward to 2025 🎉

Our 2024 was filled with great friends, great dogs and some amazing accomplishments!
Congratulations to everyone, no matter how big or small your “win” they have value!
The biggest win is having fun with your dogs!

We end the year with BBPIS MBPIG CH Lilpawz N Bloomsbury Meant to Bean @ Essence as #1 Long Coat Chihuahua Puppy in Canada! 🥇
Dezi is bred by Andréa Vee of Lilpawz Chihuahuas and Lynn Hurd of Bloomsbury Chihuahuas. Dezi is co-owned with Andréa and I couldn’t ask for a better person to share my first hopeful foundation dog at Essence Chihuahuas. We cannot wait to see what this year holds for this spicy little girl!

Theo had a busy start to 2024 earning his trick, sprinter and versatility title. He’s being a trooper during his therapy, building his muscles for this upcoming year. Theo is going to try his paws at something new this year. Stay tuned! 🐕 In the meantime, he’s enjoying all the snuggles and being Daddy’s boy 💕

✨Dezi✨ was outstanding at the Kars KC show this weekend! Considering her age, she’s showing us what a brave little puppy can do. Thank you to everyone who cheered her on from the sidelines. She heard you 😉

Dezi came home with Best Baby Puppy in Group (against a beautiful Xoloitzcuintle)
and lots of big girl experience holding her own against top competition in the baby puppy Best in Show ring!

Where we’re at now …

Theo, CH AppleGarden Go Play Circus NTD VN NS finished the 2023 year as a confirmation Champion, a novice trick dog and this spring added novice sprinter and versatility novice titles. Hence all those fancy letter in his name 😉 We are looking forward to continuing with his sprinter title as he slowly retires from the show ring.

Dezi, our newest addition, came out the gate running. Only a few days after this puppy was born, I knew she would be special 💕
Theo loves his new little sissy!

✨BBPIS Lilpawz N Bloomsbury Meant to Bean at Essence ✨ is currently growing up, enjoying the baby puppy show ring as she hones her skills for the big girl ring. We are looking forward to watching this baby show and grow as our first breeding prospect at Essence Chihuahuas!

I can’t say thank you enough to Andrea Chihuahuas and Lynn Chihuahuas for entrusting me with Dezi’s care.

Dezi will need to prove herself in the show ring, she will be DNA tested shortly and a little after a year old will complete OFA testing for eyes, heart and patella. If you are interested in hearing more about this process, please reach out!

The road to the show ring …

I had many fantastic conversations with ethical breeders surrounding the Chihuahua breed. This particular year, attending the local dog show was going to be so different! For once we got to sit ringside with Darya Kucher and learn about the breed, the purpose of the confirmation shows and basically get bit by the bug without even knowing it. I can even remember thinking “I could NEVER do that!” as I watched the handlers present their dogs in the ring. I may have even said it out loud 🤣

September 2022 we said goodbye to Chili 😢 and in November we welcomed Theo into our home. In the new year we found ourselves taking handling classes and by March 2023 we were entering the show ring together. Talk about a whirlwind!

Below, the first pic is our very first dog show, ringside photo and the others show the journey from his first point to his final Championship point. To say we had to work on polishing (and still are!) is an understatement! 🤣🤣

Meet our family!

Where it all began …

My husband Walter and I share a love of animals, as do our two (now adult) children. Our family started this journey in 2007 when we adopted my heart dog, Brie, and because of her, we spent over 10 years immersed in the rescue world. We opened our home to countless foster dogs, learned about dog behaviour, body language, nutrition, training, etc. We knew the world of pure bred dogs existed, but had never had experience with it other than to attend the annual dog show to “see the fancy dogs”.

The last edition to our pack at the time, was a little Chihuahua named Chili 🌶️ aka Killer.
He was a hot mess physically (poorly bred), and mentally (scared of his own shadow), but as he grew to love us and understand his new life, we grew to love him so very much. There came a point that we knew we would never again be without a Chihuahua so I began my search for a Chihuahua breeder…
