I would like to take this opportunity to wish Team PGF safe and successful runs. Leigh Bray, Payton Easson, and Maddie Fulton are competing in Hillsburg at the High School Rodeo for the next two days. Additionally, Sydney Willdig and Maddy MacIsacc will be competing at the Roseneath Fair. We are extremely excited for all of them.

We have many successful horses that people discarded and same they have a home for life with us even when we were offered good money for them !

Before You Knock a Kill Pen or Auction Horse, remember horses mean no harm. They’re a product of where they came from prior. There is very rarely a moment that good nutrition, up keep, and some training can’t fix and make a horse amazing despite why they were “tossed” aside.

This is Fortune! We bought her for $1,600. We rehabbed her. We did all the hard work. I tuned her up. We had her teeth done. We’ve taken her to the chiropractor. We’ve had a vet check done every 45 days to make sure she’s 100%…. And Today a lady chased me to my truck and offered me 10x what we paid. she said she saw her when I posted her online for sale. She wish she would’ve bought her and she knew that I no longer wanted to sell her, but she had just watched my daughter run her and she literally chased us to the truck and offered me $16,000 and then said they’d searched high and low for an automatic horse a 35 pound child can ride safely without being whip lashed and she said would you entertain $20,000 I said you can offer 50k and as much as I’d love to cash your check ma’am, my husband and I can’t. Fortune will always have a home with us.

But, imagine if we all listened to negative people… What if we had saw the anti kill pen anti auction post online and decided to stop offering horses and not put our child on one…. Imagine what Fortunes life would be like if we hadn’t stepped up and done all the leg work.

I’m not saying that sale barn horses are perfect and I’m definitely not saying Kill Pen Horses aren’t a lot of rehab.

What I am saying is all horses are trainable: their ability to heal and come back is truly uncanny…. They’re so stoic and God made them to do amazing things. Don’t over look a project, just be ready to do the hard work and put in some elbow grease.

Fortune and Tinley are sitting #1 in the WORLD for National Little Britches Rookie All Around and Little Wrangler Barrels, for the whole nation. I’d say the elbow grease paid off, she is Gods gift to my family and we’re so grateful for her.

One of the most important lessons in rodeo—and in life—is that who you surround yourself with matters. If you want to win, hang out with winners. Winners aren’t just people holding the buckle at the end of the night—they’re the ones who cheer you on, lift you up, and celebrate your success as much as their own.

Supporting other contestants doesn’t take away from your run, it adds to the sport. When you learn to clap for someone else’s victory, you set yourself up to receive your own. Winners push each other, encourage each other, and hold each other accountable.

At the end of the day, the arena is big enough for all of us to shine. Be the person who supports others, and surround yourself with those who do the same—you’ll be amazed at how far it takes you.

I preach this

"Quit over feeding your performance horses, and start riding them."

There. I said it.

And for heaven's sake, quit turning to the vet for every misstep and bobble.

Instead of looking for a quick fix that doesn't involve effort, try saddling up and long trotting a few miles...daily. You probably got into this sport because you love to ride...so ride! Five days a week, rain or shine. I guarantee your horse won't be as 'ulcer-y', he won't freshen up and act up, he won't fall apart under pressure...you two will partner up the way a horse and rider were intended to.

You might even win more.

The last thing your underworked equine partner needs is grass 24-7, every supplement known to man kind, soaked (or unsoaked) alfalfa cubes on a daily basis, gastro medication, Lasix, and injections in every joint. What he does need is miles in the saddle.

And so do you.

Start there, at least.

Good old fashioned riding time.

Keep it simple, stupid.

It's a good habit to develop anyway. All manner of equine problems can be fixed with consistent riding and some daily sweat...on the part of both parties.
