Let's Talk Aggression
One of the highest rising problems we deal within the dog training industry is aggression.
Aggression can manifest in many forms; Dog Aggression, Human Aggression, Food Aggression, Barrier Aggression, Resource Guarding, etc. It can be caused by genetics, fear, a conditioned response, lack of confidence, training or structure in the dogs daily routine.
In most cases aggression is a neurological loop in the dogs brain. When the dog acts aggressively a chemical release of dopamine is released in the dogs brain causing a "high" or a release for the dog. This becomes a self-rewarding cycle to the dog, the aggression usually builds as the dog takes pleasure in the release, the cycle becomes deeper and deeper. The dog knows no other way of dealing with it.
It takes a skilled trainer and/or behavior modification specialist to understand how this cycle works for the dog. Reading the dogs body language, knowing the dogs history, timing the corrections are all very important however, its when & how during the dog's aggressive cycle to rewire the dogs pattern to a wanted behaviour that is crucial. We need to teach the dog a different cycle with wanted behaviour. And we can help you with that.
