Weaning and Preg checking is coming up Monday 9 Nov at the ranch. I should probably have this conversation with my herd🤠. Although I don’t have any cows named Linda

Today took an unexpected turn, but has it ever filled my bucket.

Today the ranch was supposed to host be a Blacksmith course for Veterans. An instructor, with a mobile setup, was going to run it. It was postponed at the last minute due to the weather and road conditions. We quickly started notifying everyone of the cancellation, that was the disappointing part of the day.

Two of the people who were attending messaged that they were already on their way and would still stop in for a visit. What I was not expecting was the surprise they had for the ranch. When Vanessa and Peter showed up they thanked me for putting on events and for the things I do for Veterans. They then, rightly so, commented that when Veterans show up I don't really have any seating or a place to gather. SOOOO to rectify that their business, Harbombe Ventures, built the ranch a picnic table to seat 10, complete with a copper plaque with the ranch Logo on it.

I don't even have the words to describe how grateful I am for their generosity. I always look forward to hosting people at the ranch but now we have this amazing table to gather around.

My constant companion and ranch partner.

I’ve had Didjeri (my Aussie cattle dog) for almost 1.5 years and I honestly can’t imagine the ranch without him now.
He came from a loving family in the city, and I am so thankful they chose me when their life required he be re-homed.
Since he has been with me he has become my constant companion, ranch guardian, an effective cattle working dog (most of the time 😁) and has taken on the role of protecting me while I am in the pastures, if I need protection or not.
Yesterday I spent 6 hours on the tractor mowing an overgrown, lowland, pasture. The entire time Didjeri was either running beside the tractor or he was on a ridge nearby keeping an eye on me. Today I was riding up to the North pasture to do a herd check and checking some fence lines. True to form he was at my side the entire time.
I saw something the other day that said your dog will be your best friend for part of your life, you will be your dogs best friend for their entire life… if you see me around you can be sure Didjeri is not far away
