Day 27 of making DIY toys for my 15-year-old cats. 🐱

Coffee came over.
She sniffed it.
She inspected it carefully.

For one glorious second, I thought we had a winner.

Then she remembered she has standards. 😂

At this point, I’m not making cat toys. I’m submitting products for Coffee’s approval.

After 15 years, Coffee has perfected the art of sleeping. 😂
Curled into a tiny ball, glued to my leg, stretched across the bed… every position is apparently the correct position.

Senior cats really know how to get comfortable. 🧡

I thought I was keeping her warm… but honestly, I’m not sure anymore. 😂

She gets a warm little spot inside my jacket, and I get a tiny purring heater attached to me.

Seems like a pretty fair deal. 🧡

Cat parents — are we their heated blankets, or are they ours? 😂

15 years old, but that little nose still knows. 🥹🧡

I used a little catnip spray for some sensory enrichment and wanted to see how Coffee and Cookie would react.

They may be seniors, but there are still so many little ways to keep them curious and engaged. 🐱🌿

Growing older doesn’t mean they stop enjoying new smells, sounds and experiences. 🤍

When you lose a pet, people talk about grief like it lives at home. Like it is something you can step away from when you leave the house.

It does not work that way. You carry it with you into the grocery store and the work meeting and the quiet moment in the car when you are waiting for the light to change. You carry it in ordinary places that have no particular connection to them at all, and it finds you anyway.

We have not lost Coffee or Cookie. But we know that feeling is coming, and we already know we will not be able to leave it at the door.

Day 25: Hanging Bottle Cap Box Toy 📦

I really thought all the dangling pieces would get their attention… apparently not 😂

Coffee gave it a quick inspection. Cookie wasn’t impressed either. After 25 days, I’m starting to realize the hardest part of making cat toys isn’t making them — it’s getting the cats to care. 😭

Another one for the rejection pile.

Coffee doesn’t just meow. She has full conversations. Complaints. Questions. Follow-up questions. And apparently, I’m expected to understand every single word.
