Farewell to Honey💗
Honey, our brilliant little Border Collie cross, wrapped up her board and train last week, and what an absolute pleasure she was to work with. Smart, eager, and deeply committed to pleasing her handler, she’s the kind of dog who tries hard, learns fast, and brings joy into every session.
I first met Honey a few months ago, shortly after her parents adopted her. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were in over their heads. She had explosive reactivity toward any dog or small critter, and her world felt very small because of it. But after seeing huge progress in just three sessions, we knew she was ready for the next step…board and train.
I always suspected there was a social girl tucked underneath all that intensity, she just hadn’t had the chance to discover it yet. With guided, thoughtful dog to dog interactions, she blossomed exactly the way I hoped she would. She became an appropriately social, confident dog, even able to play politely with small dogs. And she didn’t stop there. Honey even learned to control herself and interact appropriately with my two cats, which was hands down the toughest part of her journey. Watching her slow down, think, and make good choices around them was one of her biggest accomplishments.
I won’t pretend I don’t miss having Honey in my home. She was a bright, happy presence .. but I’m so thrilled she’s back with her family. And they’re absolutely ecstatic with her progress.
