🐾 It’s National Dog Day! What better day to highlight some of our longest-stay dogs are still waiting for a home. 💛

Today is a day to celebrate the dogs we love and the joy they bring to our lives. For these dogs, we’re hoping this is the year they finally find their person.

🐶 Harnette: 300 days in rescue and cleared for adoption
🐶 Eva: 412 days in rescue and cleared for adoption
🐶 Bebe: 677 days in rescue and cleared for adoption
🐶 Zena: 1,947 days in rescue and cleared for adoption
🐶 Theo: 91 days in shelter and still waiting for a foster home in order to be cleared for adoption

Zena has spent more than five years waiting for a family. Bebe has been waiting nearly two years. Eva, Harnette and Theo are also still waiting for someone to give them a chance.

These dogs deserve a home, a family and the opportunity to be loved.

Getting excited for Bark-A-Thon? Here's everything you need to know before September 12!

📍 Where is it?
North Glenmore Park: Parking Lot A

🕙 What time does it start?
The event runs from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM.

🐕 Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely! Dogs are welcome, but they're not required. Everyone can participate!

🏃 Do I have to run?
Nope! Choose a 5K or 10K route and walk or run at your own pace.

🎒 What should I bring?
✔ Comfortable walking/running shoes
✔ Sunscreen
✔ Your friends and family
✔ Your pup (if you're bringing one!)

🎉 What can I expect?
Music, local vendors, free treats, fun activities, prizes, raffles, and an incredible community coming together to support rescue animals.

It's a full house! 🐾🚐🏠Yesterday we welcomed 20 new cats into our care. All with the help of our friends at KBB Transport who transported our newest furry friends.

With the power of community and great partners we are able to make a difference for many lives in need.

Screaming Retriever Beer | Alberta Craft Brewery will be at Bark-A-Thon and we're bringing the beer garden! 🍺🐾

Screaming Retriever is one of our Silver sponsors of this year's Bark-A-Thon, happening Saturday, September 12 at North Glenmore Park. Lace up for the 5K or 10K walk or run with your pooch, then head to the beer tent for cold drinks and good vibes. All for an incredible cause. Every dollar raised goes directly toward veterinary care, rehabilitation, fostering, and adoption for dogs and cats in need at Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation. Only fitting on Black Cat Appreciation Day we treat our black kitties to their favourite foods! We also want to give a big appreciation to donors who make our cats like Barnacle Betty and Captain Jack happy with full tummies!

Every can donated makes a difference - just look at Betty and Jack for the proof!

Bark-A-Thon is more than a race: it’s a community event that helps support animals in need, and we need an amazing crew of volunteers to help make the day happen!

Whether you’re outgoing and love cheering people on, great at keeping things organized, comfortable helping with safety, or just looking for a fun way to give back, we have a volunteer role for you.
