Summer is here, and rising temperatures can quickly become dangerous for our pets. A little extra caution can go a long way in preventing heatstroke.
Here’s how to keep your furry family members safe:
Keep fresh water available at all times.
Save walks for the early morning or late evening.
Check the pavement before every walk—if you can’t comfortably hold the back of your hand on it for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for their paws.
Stick to the shade and take plenty of breaks.
Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute.
Make sure they have a cool place to relax indoors or in the shade.
Know the signs of heatstroke:
Heavy panting
Excessive drooling
Weakness or lethargy
Vomiting or diarrhea
Bright red or pale gums
Collapse or seizures
If you notice any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately. Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

Our clinic will be closed on Wednesday, July 1st for Canada Day.

To ensure your pet has everything they need, please place any food or medication orders by 2:30 PM on Tuesday, June 30th for pickup on Thursday, July 2nd.

Orders placed after 2:30 PM on June 30th will be available for pickup beginning Tuesday, July 7th.
