🐾 Wellness Wednesday – Meet Snoopy 🐾

This week we'd like to introduce you to Snoopy, an affectionate 1-year-4-month-old boy who arrived at SHAID feeling under the weather.

When Snoopy came into our care, he had some ticks in his coat, a few mats in his fur, a high temperature, and was generally feeling unwell. After a veterinary assessment, he tested positive for both Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, two tick-borne illnesses. He has been receiving antibiotics and is recovering well.

Snoopy has also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV is a virus that affects a cat’s immune system, making them more vulnerable to infections and illness. While there is no cure for FeLV, many FeLV-positive cats can live happy, comfortable lives with proper care, regular veterinary checkups, and an indoor lifestyle.

Snoopy is not yet available for adoption as he still needs to complete his course of antibiotics and continue his recovery. Our team will continue to monitor his progress and provide him with the care he needs.

Despite the challenges he's faced, Snoopy continues to win hearts with his gentle nature and love of attention. While he still has some healing to do before he's ready to find a home of his own, we're committed to helping him feel his best every step of the way. ❤️🐱
