Mother’s Day felt like the perfect time to announce this one… 👶🐾

May’s daycare focus:✨ BABY & KID SOCIALIZATION ✨

We’ll be introducing dogs to:🍼 baby gear🎶 kid noises🚼 movement & chaos🧸 strange objects🌿 and learning how to stay calm through it all!

Activities will rotate throughout the month so different daycare groups get a chance to participate — meaning our regularly attending pups will get the MOST practice and confidence-building opportunities 👀💛

Because babies grow fast… and we want confident dogs growing with them. 🤍

Break time! 🧃

One thing we teach the daycare dogs is that if their playmate needs a break, to give them one! Nova knows to let Mila take a turn at the water pail, and then it’s right back to zoomin’! 🏃💨

Safe, supervised, and always advocating for everyone’s comfort and safety - that’s just how we do it at Grasslands! ⭐️

We hope this message finds you and your pets in good health. The safety and well-being of your animals remain a top priority. We are writing to inform you of recent reports of canine cough among dogs in our care. To date, all reported cases have occurred in large dog daycare groups; however, we have also been made aware of cases unrelated to Grasslands within the Brandon community.

Canine cough is a highly contagious respiratory illness in dogs, comparable to the common cold in humans, and can be caused by various bacteria and viruses, most notably Parainfluenza, Bordetella, and adenovirus. Symptoms typically include a persistent, dry cough, sneezing, nasal discharge, and occasionally fever and lethargy. The condition is generally mild, with rare cases of significant concern.

To protect all dogs in our facility, we have implemented enhanced sanitation protocols with more frequent cleaning of shared spaces and equipment, increased ventilation by opening large doors and encouraging outdoor play, and rigorous health checks for all incoming dogs. Any dog showing symptoms will be isolated, and owners will be promptly informed. We also strongly encourage pet owners to ensure their dogs are current on vaccinations, particularly the most effective three-way intranasal vaccine, as most symptomatic dogs have either received only the oral Bordetella vaccine or no canine cough vaccine at all, despite receiving core injectable immunizations.

As a pet owner, you can help prevent the spread of canine cough by monitoring your dog for any signs of illness and consulting your veterinarian if you observe symptoms.

Thank you for your attention and for entrusting us with the care of your beloved pets.
