Tonight was a reminder that no one builds something meaningful alone.

I was incredibly honoured to receive the 2026 Vernon Women in Business Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

When Wood Mountain Naturals began, it wasn’t part of a business plan. It started because our dog Zara needed help. What followed was years of learning, building, failing, growing, and refusing to quit.

This award may have my name on it, but it belongs to so many people.

To my mom Patti, who believed in this crazy idea from the beginning and continues to work beside me every day.

To my daughter Addy, who has grown up watching the highs and lows of entrepreneurship and reminds me why building a legacy matters.

To our family, team, retailers, distributors, suppliers, and customers across Canada—thank you for trusting us.

And to Zara, the dog who started it all.

Being recognized among so many incredible women was truly humbling, and having the opportunity to share the stage and participate in the entrepreneur panel made the evening even more special.

Thank you to Vernon Women in Business for this honour.

From farm ingredients to finished food. 🐾🇨🇦

Today’s batch started with real ingredients, moved through production, cleanup, and quality checks, and ended with another day of making food we’re proud to feed our own dogs.

What you don’t always see is everything that happens behind the scenes-the prep, the cleaning, the packaging, and the long days that go into every box.

We’re not a giant factory. We’re a small Canadian family business committed to doing things the right way, one batch at a time.

📦 One pallet down.

While everyone sees the finished box on the shelf, there’s a lot that happens before it gets there.

Today was all about building orders, wrapping pallets, and getting ready to ship Canadian-made nutrition to dogs across the country.

And of course, quality control was closely supervised by Kali and Georgie. 🐱

Who knew we were on to something!? 🤔

Apples are included in all of our recipes! 🍎

Dogs🐾 benefit from something as simple as an apple🍎. A new peer-reviewed systematic review published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science highlighted quercetin, a powerful flavonoid✨ found in apples, as one of the most promising natural compounds for supporting long-term health.

Research suggests quercetin helps reduce inflammation, protect cells from oxidative damage, support beneficial gut bacteria, strengthen the gut barrier, and promote healthy metabolism, all of which are closely linked to healthier aging.

Choose organic apples🍏 or spray free apples when possible, as conventionally grown apples are among the fruits most commonly found to contain pesticide residues. Remove the seeds and core, but leave the skin on (that’s where the quercetin is) before sharing a few bites with your dog. Meanwhile, Patti is headed to Abbotsford to set up for the Pets Canada show kicking off tomorrow.
