Uh-oh, has your pet gotten into something they shouldn’t have? 🐢 Many pet poisoning cases can be treated successfully if caught quickly. If your pet has eaten something toxic recently, we might be able to induce vomiting to make them feel better. And if it’s something like rat bait, there are antidotes that can help. So, if you think your pet has eaten something bad, don’t delay! Call our team (or the Animal Poisons Helpline) right away for advice. ☎️

We have had quite afew tick patients in over the cooler months, so the "tick season" is all year round these days.

Preventing tick paralysis is a much safer and cheaper alternative to treating the condition once it has occurred.
Along with a daily tick search, Woolgoolga Vet Clinic recommendations: Dogs
* Bravecto Quantum yearly injection πŸ’‰
* Bravecto chew (3 month protection)
* Bravecto spot on ( 5 monthly protection)
*Nexgard/ Nexgard Spectra chew (1
month protection).
Cats - we recommend: *Bravecto spot on for cats (3 month protection.)
* Nexgard Spectra for cats (1 month protection)
* Felpreva for cats (3 month protection)

Please note that none of the oral preventions can be used on cats!

The Symptoms of Ticks on dogs & cats
Paralysis tick: Symptoms may include one or more of the following signs (it can take three days or more after a paralysis tick attaches before signs develop):
β€’ A loss of coordination in the hind legs (wobbly or not being able to get up) which may progress to paralysis.
β€’ A change in voice or bark/meow
β€’ You may notice them vomiting after a tick bite.
β€’ Retching, coughing or loss of appetite.
β€’ Laboured breathing or rapid breathing.
β€’ You may notice that your dog or cat is lethargic after a tick bite.
Should you notice symptoms of a tick bite in your pet, you should seek immediate veterinary attention.
Even if the tick has been killed & removed it doesn’t mean your pet is out of danger!

🚨As you celebrate Easter, remember to keep chocolate and Easter eggs out of your pets' reach. Chocolate toxicity in pets is serious, and even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, restlessness, seizures, and in severe cases, death. Make sure to keep all chocolate and eggs out of reach.
Also ensure your pets don't get into the hot cross buns!
