Let’s talk about responsible breeding – and the hate we get for it.
Yes, I’m a breeder.
Yes, I breed cats — with intention, with education, with full dedication.
And guess what?
Without breeders, there would be no such thing as a breed.
No British Shorthairs. No Maine C***s. No Ragdolls. Nothing.
Just a random mix of whatever survived.
So maybe—just maybe—stop demonizing responsible breeders.
🔬 We do health checks.
🧬 We do genetic testing.
🐾 We select for stable temperaments.
❤️🩹 We raise kittens with love, structure, and science behind every decision.
And yes — we learn constantly. Veterinary care, nutrition, behavior, epigenetics — this isn’t a “hobby,” it’s a lifestyle.
Do bad breeders exist? Sure.
Just like bad rescues exist.
Just like bad doctors, bad teachers, bad everything.
But saying “all breeders are evil” is as ignorant as saying all shelters are just hoarders.
(And let’s not pretend some shelters aren’t making a nice income by holding animals “indefinitely” and charging “adoption fees” higher than many breeders.)
If ethical breeders stop, who’s going to preserve health, type, and temperament in cats?
The street?
You don’t have to like breeders.
But maybe stop attacking the ones who are actually doing it right.
Because guess what?
We’re not the problem.
We’re part of the solution.
