Our Moo's are still alive, well and living the dream living at my parents 45 acre property 💕

We took in our biggest babies when we were very naive and it's ridiculous to think we ever thought we had enough space for them, they spent many years happy enough on our small rental, but they only ever had hay and couldn't stretch their legs the way they can now. I'm very grateful that my Mum is so wonderful let's then live their Moo cow dreams on her property. While we visit regularly and get them all the vet care that we need, My Mum and brother make sure they are fed and well on all the days we can't be there. We miss living with them so very much but this is really the best thing for them, especially because there is infrastructure like yards and a crush when medical care is required and we still are able to afford them everything a Sanctuary Cow deserves, just with a little extra drive!

So, long story short, silly decision to take in Moo's, but ultimately, no regrets, because they are safe, as free as they can be and together for all of their natural loves ❤️ Fern and Neo are the ultimate example of the deep family bonds Animals have and all 3 are a right knot herd 💕

​With November 11th just around the corner (when we officially get the keys to our forever home), this is where we’ll be sharing all the real behind-the-scenes moments of the big move, the build, and the animals stepping out onto their new home for the first time.

​It’s completely low-pressure, you can leave notifications on if you want to see things as they happen, or mute the chat and just drop in whenever you need a peaceful paddock break.

Hi, I'm Ketut! I like to fly over 6 foot high fences and terrorise a Rooster 3 X the size of me purely by existing in his space. Yes, I do abandon my girls to do this, but I always go home to them at night 😐

This is a new activity for the little pocket sized ninja, only starting this new hobby of being a terrorist this week, so wee little Ketut's free ranging time has been reduced a little so that poor Bam Bam, who is usually full of bravado, doesn't have to spend most of his day avoiding Ketut at the back of his big run!

Well...We did it!! After 4 years of great sacrifice, hard work and not quitting on a vision that at times felt completely impossible, we purchased a property! Thank you so much for all the well wishes we received 💕

While Shear Existence is a registered not for profit, Jem and I alone have saved to make this purchase while still covering around 90% of the running costs of the organisation. It is single handedly the biggest thing we have undertaken and our biggest accomplishment outside saving the lives of the residents here

While I am proud of us... it's stupid 🤣!!! It is not sustainable for us to continue doing things this way, especially now that we have taken on a big ol' mortgage so that current residents and potential new rescues in the future have a life line and a place of peace. This means we will be spending a lot of energy building our organisation into a smart and sustainable one with a solid community of support

First step...raise 50 grand! Super chill, many easy 😅. We purchased the property and entered into a committed relationship with our bank to ensure Shear Existence lives on well into the future, but we must have help funding the set up to actually be able to move there...as lovely as it is, please don't make us all stay here because we can't afford fences, shelters and yards, I beg of thee!! 🫠 The Sheepies want to graze their new pasture after a life time of living on hay!

This seems like a large sum, but in all honesty, it's just enough to get us started. This is our next chapter, our miracle and the start of something very special. We need donations, shares, comments and interactions to make sure we can reach the people who can make this a reality. No donation is too small (or too big for you money bags out there).

Gloria is a new Woman!
A few weeks ago Gloria was rushed off to the vet after her implant stopped working earlier than we expected and she had begun to develop egg yolk peritonitis.

I was actually terrified after her treatment, she had fluid drained from her abdomen and the procedure wiped her, she left the vets looking much sadder than when she arrived, but she was implanted, on Meds and in sick bay where no comforts and treats are off limits. It was a week before I knew she would be ok, and today she is back to her beautiful self, a clever, curious and life loving lady who is inherently worthy of respect, love and care...and with a shorter implant schedule so she is free from laying the eggs that a trying to kill her

Chickens are not egg machines, yet in farms and backyards everywhere, we have bred them and treat them like they are, and they are rarely afforded medical help when they need it. If you have Chickens, please treat them like the precious family members that they are and always call an avian vet at the first sign of illness. Chickens are masters at hiding pain and illness, so if they are showing you, its already serious 🌸

WE DID IT!!! 🎉 Shear Existence has a forever home!! We collect the keys on the 4th of December and begin our long awaited next chapter🎄

This has taken an incredible amount of sacrifice to achieve, and would never have happened if we weren't so supported by our Shear Existence community, our families and friends, especially Aunty Julie and Mama Sooze (Ange's Mum)

We had to make some concessions with what we were dreaming of as far as a property. Our new home is 21 acres, we were hoping for closer to double this, but the current state of things and constantly moving financial goal posts meant that we had to get real

And when I really thought things through, and I reflected on our special needs residents like Forest, Leila and Leo who need smaller spaces and specialised care, I realised a smaller space will not hold us back from helping. It's also a little further away from home base meaning a 40 minute drive to work, our vets and most of our 'away from home lives'. But when we visited the property, it was just so beautiful and it felt so right and so we threw everything at making it happen, AND IT HAS!!

This journey has nearly killed us, but now we know that it has all been worth it. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way, you have helped to make this a reality. I've really struggled over the last 4 years to stay connected to supporters, donors and our community. I'm hoping now we have reached this milestone I can be much better with these things

We will also be launching a fundraiser soon, our biggest one yet. What we can do with this property, and who we can help, completely depends on how we are able to set it up, and to do that, our little org will require funds. I hope you can all get behind us ❤️
