Did you know when we take your pets blood we can also perform a blood smear for microscope evaluation? 🔬
The vet manually examines the blood platelets (the structure, size and shape) as it can affect the patients ability to form blood clots. The red blood cells tell us if the patient is anaemic and the white bloods cells can show if the patient has any infection or inflammation. Have you met our awesome vet, Dr Maddi? Hailing from Geelong in Victoria she grew up enjoying horse riding and staying at her grandparents’ farm. This love for animals led her to being a vet since 2021. Dr Maddi has a particular interest in medicine and has worked in both mixed and small animal practice. She has been a treasured part of our Reedy Creek Vet team since 2024 and we couldn't imagine it without her!
