What a heartwarming story this is about Winston the Shetland Pony. A few months ago a lady with the kindest soul saw him advertised for sale as a ridden pony. He was 25 years old (that's very old for a horse) and was severely laminitic (a condition causing incredible pain and inflammation in the hooves). He could barely walk. She could see from his eyes in the advertisement that he just wanted to retire, so she bought him and that's his new life. 💚 But the laminitis, despite following all the protocols, didn't seem to be improving. Laminitis can be a symptom of Cushing's Disease, where the body produces too much cortisol and is in a state of chronic inflammation. Unfortunately she hit some brick walls with getting vets out and so my name was passed on to her. With ANYTHING that is going on for a horse, be it physical or emotional, I always start with a Raindrop Technique. Winston was known to be very grumpy (most likely due to pain) but he actually relaxed shortly after I started. He started licking and chewing (a sign of a release) and was leaning into the massage components, like he REALLY wanted more. 😃 Throughout the technique I could feel hot areas which indicates inflammation coming to the surface, so I knew it was benefiting him. At the conclusion, we spoke about some natural supplements and essential oils that could support him moving forward. What an honour it was to help a horse in need. 🙏🐴
