This is real….!!!
Hopefully this will guilt trip more people into having their dog desexed 🙏😢🐾
💔🕯️ This is a heartbreaking reality we need to address, and make sure people are aware 🕯️💔
Across the state, rescues are being forced to close their doors due to overwhelming numbers, limited resources, and lack of space. This means that in the coming months, countless dogs—many from breeding practices that continue to supply more puppies—will end up on the streets, in dangerous situations, or in kill shelters with no chance of rescue.
CAPS receives call from near and far, with people reaching out almost 2,000 kilometers away. These people or shelters aren't in a remote area, yet they’re reaching out to everyone they can.
Rescues all over Queensland get contacted, desperate to find a place for these lives, but each rescue is already at capacity.
Each looking for their 1 last hope.
It’s heartbreaking to think of these dogs sitting in cages—some barely holding onto hope, others simply running out of time. Every dog deserves a chance—a loving home and a safe future. But unchecked breeding is filling shelters to capacity and leaving more dogs on death row. Each new puppy, whether purebred or mixed, is taking a home away from a shelter dog who desperately needs it. Many breeders operate without proper legal requirements, keeping animals unregistered and often exceeding the legal limit on their properties. Even breeders who follow the rules can’t guarantee their pups won’t end up in shelters down the line. In today’s economy, when life takes an unexpected turn, animals are often the first to go, rehomed or surrendered as families struggle to make ends meet. No matter the price tag on a dog, once it leaves the breeder, no one can promise it has a safe home for the next 15 years.
If you know of unregulated breeders, please report them to local councils to help prevent more dogs from being born when there are so many who already need to live the life they've got.
Please consider adopting, fostering, or supporting CAPS or your local rescue. Together, we can be the voice and the hope these dogs need. Check out the SavourLife website, click - adopt a dog to see who needs your help today!
