Company Overview
The Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) is an initiative of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) dedicated to finding homes for greyhounds after racing. Description
The GAP page is a place for greyhound adopters, friends of GAP, and fans of greyhounds as pets. Greyhounds make fantastic pets – they are quiet, lazy, and gentle dogs that thrive in the family home environment. Greyho

unds that have passed through the program have been awarded a special green GAP collar and do not have to be muzzled in public. Every greyhound that enters the program is thoroughly temperament tested, desexed, wormed, microchipped, and vaccinated. They then spend time with a volunteer foster carer to help them adjust from life in a kennel, to life in a pet home. Our foster carers aim to familiarise the greyhounds with a variety of situations they may not have experienced in the past, like walking upstairs or on slippery floors. PUPDATE: wow, you guys are the best! Thanks so much for all the love and shares for Mr Percy! He has a meet and greet booked for tomorrow - we will let you know how it goes 😍.

We are really struggling to find Percy Shades a home - it seems very few people are willing to open their hearts and homes to an almost blind dog 😢.

Our beautiful greyhounds are more than just pets — they’re family. And like any good family gathering, we want them to be right there in the middle of the Easter fun — soaking up cuddles, joining the egg hunt (in their own sniffy way), and getting plenty of love.

But while it’s tempting to share all the treats, there are a few Easter goodies that are best kept just for the humans:

🚫 Hot cross buns – raisins and sultanas can be harmful to dogs.
🚫 Chocolate – even a small amount can cause big problems.
🚫 Cooked bones – they can splinter and cause serious injuries.
🚫 Onions & garlic – often hidden in roast dishes and gravies.
🚫 Xylitol – a sweetener in some sugar-free snacks, and very toxic to pups.
🚫 Alcohol – including sneaky desserts with a cheeky splash!

Instead, treat your Grey to:

✅ A long walk or backyard zoomies
✅ A cuddle session in the sun
✅ A special dog-safe treat or chew

Let’s make this Easter full of joy, wagging tails, and safe snacks for every member of the family. 🐾💕

Just a little remindaer, we’re hopping off for a little R&R over the Easter long weekend — which means the GAP Adoption Centre in Tullamarine will be closed from Friday 18 April to Monday 21 April.

Our greys will be enjoying extra naps, ear rubs, and maybe a carrot or two in the meantime. 💤🥕

If you're planning a visit, pop in before Friday or from Tuesday onwards — we’ll be back with all the wagging tails and happy hound hugs then!
