Did you know that most cats already show signs of dental disease before their second birthday? 🐱

It's a surprising fact — and one that many cat owners don't realize until it's already a concern. Up to 70% of cats develop some form of periodontal disease by age two. That's most of our feline companions.

Some cats are at even higher risk. Breeds like Persians, Himalayans, Maine C***s, Abyssinians, Burmese, and Somalis are more prone to dental issues due to genetics and facial structure. If you have one of these breeds at home, their dental health deserves extra attention.

Here are the three most common dental diseases in cats:
🔹 Gingivitis – inflammation of the gums
🔹 Periodontitis – deeper infection affecting the structures around the teeth
🔹 Tooth Resorption – a painful condition where the tooth slowly breaks down from the inside

One reason dental disease is so common? Cats are natural carnivores. In the wild, chewing prey helped keep their teeth clean. Today's commercial cat food doesn't provide that same cleaning action, which can leave teeth more vulnerable over time.

FACTS REGARDING Canine Dental Disease

Dental disease is a prevalent medical condition in dogs, affecting over 80% of canines aged three years and older.
Small dog breeds, including Toy Poodles, Yorkshire Terriers, Chihuahuas, and Dachshunds, exhibit higher susceptibility. Brachycephalic breeds, such as Boxers, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Shih Tzus, are also at increased risk. This prevalence is attributed to dental overcrowding and malocclusion resulting from compressed jaw structures.
Canines frequently experience tooth fractures from chewing behaviors. Periodontal disease, involving infection of the supporting tissues and bone, is common. Additional conditions include gingivitis, abscesses, and the accumulation of plaque and tartar.
