It’s always hard to watch our clients suffer when they say that last Goodbye to their beloved animal. Today we had to say that last Goodbye to our beautiful rescue dog Tory, who has been with us for almost 15 years. We are grateful for the love, loyalty, zoomies, funny moments and joy she brought into our lives. We already miss you so much. Rest in peace Tory ❤️

Today we farewelled our nurse Julia who came all the way from Germany to spend the breeding season with us.
Julia mainly works in the MRI unit in a large Specialist Equine Clinic in Telgte, Germany. It didn’t take her long to adapt to all aspects of Equine reproductive nursing and we are extremely grateful to have had her with us for the past few months of craziness!
Thank you Julia for your incredible help, we miss you already and wish you all the best for your future!

Appreciation post for our Powerhouse Shannon McPherson!
Slashing, mowing, whipper snippering, feeding and yard duties, nursing duties, unloading 90 bales of hay by herself, picking up fodder, keeping everything neat and tidy- she does it all and still smiles at the end of each shift. We are so grateful to have you part of our team! Thank you for all you do.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful nurse Jassy - you’ve certainly come a long way in the time we’ve known you; from the shy 14 year old girl (who would eat our Vegemite sandwiches) to a talented, smart, extremely funny, kind young lady. We are certainly proud of you and can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future (which of course will include working for us for a long long time)!

✨ The benefits of ICSI you may not have realised… ✨

At the Newcastle Equine ICSI Lab, all ICSI embryos are vitrified — frozen in time and ready for transfer when it suits you.

Why is this so important?
Because how often do you find yourself with a great embryo… but no suitable recipient mare in the paddock?

Following a successful OPU performed by our colleague Dr Kylie Hardwicke at Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre, embryos were produced and cryopreserved at our Newcastle lab. As the breeding season ramped up, recipient availability became scarce — a familiar challenge for many.

No problem. The vitrified embryo was safely transported to our colleague Dr Doug Edlington, who just happened to have the perfect recipient mare available. The result?
✅ Successful embryo warming
✅ Successful transfer
✅ Successful pregnancy

Let’s follow the journey:
OPU at Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre → ICSI, embryo production & cryopreservation in Newcastle → Embryo warming and transfer at Dr Ed’s Equine Veterinary Services.

We are looking for a Stablehand to support our busy team.
This is a CASUAL position, will include weekend and public holiday work and is seasonal until end of February 2026.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cleaning yards and stables.
Feeding and watering of animals.
Cleaning and tidying vet shed facilities.
Some general maintenace.

Experience with horses is essential.
