Rosy the Pet Nanny

Rosy the Pet Nanny One-on-one care & walking for dogs with big feelings in Sydney’s Inner West 🐾 20+ years’ experience supporting rescue pets, reactive dogs & special needs.

Services: walking, drop-ins, live-in care, meds, palliative & life-stage care. 💛 Specialise and experienced in caring for the Elderly, the Sick, the Rescued, those in Recovery and those Fur Kids that don’t play well with others or have Special Issues. I’m located in Sydney’s inner- west, but I do travel for House and/or Pet Nanny Assignments requiring me to live in. The Fur Kids that have Special

(Behavioural or Psychological) Issues, may find the experience of being apart from their Pack (You/other Pets) and also being away from Home (their environment}, a very stressful experience which can exacerbate their issues or create new ones. I have over 13years experience in Pet-spoiling and House-sitting. I am TAFE accredited and Animal First Aid accredited. I provide a personalised service, working alone. I don’t advertise on my car or wear a uniform. I don’t want to advertise that your Fur Kids and Home are Alone. Looking for Peace of Mind regarding your Fur Kids and Home, when you’re away? I started living in with Bandit today, and we wasted no time getting stuck into some enrichment. 🐾

A lot of people think enrichment is just for dogs, but cats need it too.

Today Bandit explored puzzle toys, a toy mouse, a track toy, cardboard boxes, and a game of laser chase.

Each activity gave him the opportunity to hunt, stalk, chase, pounce, problem-solve, and explore his environment.

Enrichment isn’t about keeping cats busy. It’s about giving them the opportunity to be cats.

Watching a cat go from curious observer to confident hunter is one of my favourite parts of what I do. ❤️

And a huge shout out to Grace’s Mumma, who has seen firsthand the difference these sessions have made to Grace’s confidence.

Grace’s Mumma has been a huge part of this journey too. She has always given Grace the space to work things out for herself, and she has always trusted me to build my own relationship with Grace. She has never been a helicopter Pawrent, and because of that, Grace has had the opportunity to grow, learn and succeed on her own terms. ❤️

Grace and I have been having enrichment sessions together for quite a while now. ❤️

Over that time, I’ve watched her confidence grow.

What started as finding treats hidden in enrichment activities has become so much more. Each session gives Grace the opportunity to make choices, solve problems and work through challenges at her own pace.

With every success, she becomes a little more confident in herself.

At the same time, we’ve built trust.

Grace knows there is no pressure from me. She knows she can take her time, think things through, and that I’m there to support her every step of the way.

Enrichment isn’t about keeping dogs busy. It’s about giving them opportunities to use their brains, build confidence and feel successful.

Watching Grace work her way through today’s puzzle reminded me just how far she has come. Not because she found every treat, but because of the confidence she showed while doing it.

Seeing dogs realise they are capable, and watching that confidence grow over time, is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Watching dogs learn that they can do hard things, and then seeing them carry that confidence into other parts of their lives, never gets old. 🌻🐾❤️

I don’t take your support for granted. Working in animal care can sometimes feel like you’re quietly doing your thing in the background, so every like, comment, share, recommendation, and kind word means the world to me.

Your support reminds me that I’m not invisible, that the love and care I put into looking after animals is seen and appreciated. Thank you for being part of this journey and for cheering me on. It truly means more than you know. ❤️🐾

People often see the cute parts of pet care. They don’t always see the palliative care, the sleepless nights, and the heartbreak that can come with it.

The palliative care stage starts from the terminal diagnosis, but how long an animal has quality of life is always a guess. That decision sits between the Pawrents, the veterinary team, and the diagnosis itself.

In my 20 years of being a Pet Nanny, I have lived in, pet sat, and visited dogs and cats during their final years, days, and moments before passing. Every day and every visit is different. You have good days and bad days — it is what it is.

Importantly, Sheriff is not in any pain. He was very restless through the night, but he was still keen to go out for a sniff and eat his breakfast this morning.

This is just a part of life, but it still hurts. Pawrents and Fur Kids need me to keep my s**t together and be there. If that means sleepless nights, cleaning up vomit, p**p, blood, and providing comfort — that’s my job.

Falling apart in front of the Fur Kid isn’t an option. I go for a walk, have a cry, and leave that energy behind before I walk back into the job.

No to toilet break — he wanted scritches instead. Priorities were very clear. 😂

We had a quiet start to the day together, beginning with a walk this morning. Routine has changed slightly to better meet Sheriff’s needs. A medical diagnosis a few months ago has slowed this beautiful gentleman down a little. His family recently moved house, as the staircase in their previous home was no longer safe for him to tackle.

He’s adjusting well to this new chapter though — same sweet Sheriff, just moving through life at a gentler pace these days.

Living in with Sheriff and Bandit — a greyhound and a cat duo who have completely mastered the art of supervising me.

I’ve stayed with these two many times before, so we know each other very well. I know their routine, their quirks, their boundaries, and exactly how they like things done. Most importantly, they know me and know what to expect when Nanny Rosy moves in.

A familiar routine, familiar human, and low stress all round. That’s the sweet spot. 🐾

It’s my Dad’s birthday, and my Pawrents were able to go out and celebrate because Nanny Rosy came to sit with me.

They were able to relax, enjoy their night out, and not worry about me because I was very well looked after.

We did fun things. We did enrichment, we played games, I had treats, we went out for a p*e walk, and by the end of it all I was completely p**ped, relaxed, and fast asleep.

Best night ever, honestly.
