Sher-Dog Holmes is back on the case 🔎🐶

After several hours of intense investigation, multiple witness interviews, and the careful examination of treat jar evidence… the verdict is in:

He is, in fact, a very good boy.

If your own little detective is due for a check-up, vaccine, or visit with our team, you can book an appointment by heading to scvet.com.au/book or give us a call on 1300 DOC SAM (1300 362 726) 🧡

Minnie and Matcha have been staying with us at Lions Den recently and honestly… we fully support spoiling cats around here 🧡🐾

Extra attention, cosy spots, treats, supervised playtime, and being told they’re perfect 47 times a day? Standard procedure. 🦁

And judging by these two, we don’t think they’re complaining 😉

Mother’s Day is tomorrow, and we would like to take the opportunity to wish all the amazing mums, dog mums, cat mums, and pet lovers out there a very happy Mother’s Day in advance 🧡

While the celebrations are happening, it’s also a good reminder to keep a few common Mother’s Day hazards away from curious paws and noses. Chocolates, lilies, fatty scraps, alcohol, ribbons, and gift wrap can all cause problems for our pets, especially when left within easy reach.

We put together a few simple reminders in this post to help keep your furry family members safe over the weekend 🐾

If you ever feel unsure about whether something is safe for your pet, or if your pet isn’t acting quite right, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 1300 DOC SAM (1300 362 726). Our team is always here to help when you need us.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and love-filled Mother’s Day from all of us at Southern Cross Vet 🧡

Earlier today, Dr Sam and our practice manager Clare visited Little Miss Moocha at her home to say goodbye 🧡

Moocha has been a part of the Southern Cross Vet family for many years, and it has been a real privilege for our team to help care for her throughout her journey with lymphoma.

She is deeply loved by her owner Carol, and by all of us who have had the chance to know her over the years. Moocha has touched so many hearts at our clinic, and moments like today are a reminder of just how special the bond between pets, their families, and our team can be.

We are incredibly grateful to Carol and Moocha for allowing us to be part of their journey, and we are sending them both so much love and support.

Thank you for letting us care for such a beautiful little soul 🐾

Frankie really wanted to know what Dr Sam was doing on the computer 🤷‍♂️
Frankie came in for her second round of puppy vaccinations today and was very interested in how Dr Sam does his job as a vet. She didn’t want to leave his side for even a second 🐶 and Dr Sam was more than happy to have a little assistant helping him out 🧡
Puppies require 3 rounds of vaccinations to help protect them against certain life-threatening diseases, which is why we take puppy vaccinations so seriously.
Is your pet’s vaccination up to date? Check now or give us a call on 1300 DOC SAM (1300 362 726) and we can help organise an appointment 🐾

Barrels and Poppy came in to see us yesterday, and honestly… we’re still smiling about it 🐾
Barrels had a sore little toe that needed some attention, and Poppy came along to support her sister every step of the way. The two of them stayed close, kept an eye on each other, and filled the clinic with the sweetest energy. It’s always so special seeing that kind of bond.
Barrels was very brave through her check, and we made sure she was as comfortable as possible before heading home. Poppy, of course, made sure she was right there beside her the whole time 🧡
If your pet needs a check or something doesn’t seem quite right, it’s always best to have it looked at early.

Fego came in to see Dr Yuko at our Bellevue Hill clinic today for his kennel cough vaccine and leptospirosis booster… and decided to show off a few of his best tricks while he was here 🐾
Safe to say he made quite an impression on the team. Such a clever boy, and an absolute joy to have in clinic 🧡
Keeping up with vaccinations is a simple but important way to help protect your dog from common, and sometimes serious, illnesses. Fego made it look easy.

Lenny came in recently for his castration and was an absolute sweetheart through it all 🐾

He was a little unsure at first, but with plenty of gentle reassurance, cosy blankets, and lots of post-surgery cuddles from our team, he settled in beautifully. By the time he was ready to go home, he had well and truly won everyone over 🧡

Castration is something we talk about quite often with pet parents. It can help reduce unwanted behaviours like roaming or marking, and it also lowers the risk of certain health issues later in life. Most importantly, it’s about giving your dog the best chance at a comfortable, healthy future, and we’re always here to guide you through that decision in a way that feels right for you and your pet.

If your pet is due for a visit or you’ve been meaning to book in, feel free to give us a call on 1300 DOC SAM (1300 362 726) or book via scvet.com.au/book

Meet Tinta… our newest receptionist 🐾

She spent some time up front with us today, keeping a close eye on everything going on at the clinic. Very observant, very calm… and very particular about who deserved her attention.

Between greeting patients (on her terms, of course) and quietly supervising the front desk, she made herself quite at home.

We think she fits in pretty well here 🧡
