a no-kill philosophy, with a focus on finding animals their forever homes through our Foster to Adopt Program. This program is key to our organisation’s success, as it rehabilitates our animals in preparation for their new life. We focus on:
- reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals through rehoming
community education
- desexing initiatives, and
- liaising with other welfare organisations

We do this with a direct purpose, which is working towards the introduction of new legislation to give greater protection to all animals. This also serves to provide further direction for other registered rescue organisations. Maggie’s Rescue cares for all our animals through our amazing network of foster carers. They provide a safe and nurturing home for animals in need until their forever home is found.

Here’s the deal: We have a carer locked in for one dog coming from a rural pound next week...But there are so many more still stuck there, running out of time.

💔 We want to say yes to more … but we can’t do it without YOU.

🐕 Dogs: Medium to large, pups & adults

What you’ll do:

He’s our live action Scooby-Doo, our class clown, our sweet, silly angel who is WAY overdue for his forever fam.

Knuckles is 1 year old, loves other dogs, loves cuddling, loves the beach … well any adventures really. He’s looking for an active home with kids over 10 (purely because he’s bit silly).

🚨 Cuteness alert: we’ve got a part-time Ferrari, full-time sweetheart on our hands! Meet Sissy 🖤

This mini panther has two speeds:
💨 0 to zoomies in 2 seconds flat
😴 Snuggle puddle under the blanket

Sissy’s the total package: calm, affectionate, hilarious, and just a little bit weird in the best way. Think: zooming with a fuzzy slipper stuck on her head like a helmet. Yes, it’s happened. Yes, there were witnesses. Yes, we’re obsessed.

She sings soft meow songs at dinner (Grammy-worthy), does expert laptop supervision (10/10 paws), and gives elite under-blanket cuddles. Once she trusts you, she’s basically your live-in emotional support noodle.

They’re ready to start their life with a forever family, it’s not fair to them to ask them to wait. While your home might be perfect in every other way if you’re not ready to welcome them home it’s not a match.

Sometimes timing doesn’t line up and that’s ok. If they’re still waiting after you come back from that holiday or have moved houses or that planned leave is here you should apply then, we cannot hold animals in the meantime though. While they’re waiting around other leads go cold and if something stops your trial from working out they’re left high and dry without a home. Foster homes are also a precious and scarce resource, we have to open places so others can come safely into foster (many of them don’t have any time left to wait).

It’s frustrating to spend time wading through applications only to see at the end the home wants us to wait a month or more, it’s just not possible. We kindly ask that homes hold off applying until they’re ready to welcome a new family member within a reasonable timeframe (a week or two).

🥐✨ Meet Bessie: Biscuit Maker. Nap Queen. Future Bestie. ✨🥐

This 6-month-old black & white beauty has the greenest eyes, the roundest little face, and the softest heart. When she's not working overtime kneading biscuits on her squishy blanket, Bessie’s curled up next to you for a good snooze or some top-tier cuddle time.

🛋️ Affectionate? Yes.
🎯 Playful? Absolutely—wand toys beware.
🧹 Tidy? Like she has a cleaning diploma.
🚽 Litter-trained? Of course, she’s a lady.

She’s calm, sweet, and the purrfect mix of snoozy vibes and playful zooms. A quiet home is her vibe, and once she feels safe, she’ll be headbutting you for love like it’s an emergency.

How big is your heart ❤️? We’re seeking a very special home for a very special case, Pat.

When we took Pat on we knew he had a high grade heart murmur and we were ready to support him through surgery. That wasn’t to be though 😢. Although you wouldn’t know it looking at him his advanced underlying heart disease isn’t a candidate for surgery. While we were heartbroken Pat has been blissfully unaware of his short timeline and has been living large in foster, going from strength to strength.

Pat is symptom free currently, but his prognosis is about 18 months, and he’ll need ongoing medication and monitoring. (No need to disguise the medication as he chews both pills straight down. Such a good boy!). We’re now seeking a very special home to pass the torch to, one who will shower him in love and affection. A home that will look past his prognosis and live life in the moment with him by their side. Can you give him all love, belly rubs, treats and all the snuggles his heart can handle? Pat deserves a good life however long it may be. A yard where he can stretch his legs with another dog would suit him to a tee.

Maggie’s Rescue

Maggie's Rescue is a NFP, No Kill animal rescue group based in Marrickville in the Inner West of Sydney. We are a co-operative of carers, who are all committed to our mission, which is to save and re-home abandoned and at risk animals, initially into a warm and loving foster home until we are able to find their perfect adoptive home. 🐶🐱

Our vision is that we do this with compassion, honesty and support to all our foster carers, volunteers, adopters and the greater community.

If you are able to offer a safe home to an animal in need or if you are interested in becoming a foster carer, then you will be rewarded with lots of affection and loyalty, and a love which is unconditional and furry!

All of our rescued animal leave our care vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, de-sexed, flea and worm treated.
