a no-kill philosophy, with a focus on finding animals their forever homes through our Foster to Adopt Program. This program is key to our organisation’s success, as it rehabilitates our animals in preparation for their new life. We focus on:
- reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals through rehoming
community education
- desexing initiatives, and
- liaising with other welfare organisations

We do this with a direct purpose, which is working towards the introduction of new legislation to give greater protection to all animals. This also serves to provide further direction for other registered rescue organisations. Maggie’s Rescue cares for all our animals through our amazing network of foster carers. They provide a safe and nurturing home for animals in need until their forever home is found.

🙌 100+ DAYS IN CARE = $100 ADOPTION FEE FOR SEPTEMBER 🙌

Tracey McBean, Godrick, Toulouse and Agatha have a few things in common.

They’ve all been waiting far too long.

They’re all completely awesome 😎

And they’re all a year old or younger.

Yep. These are young, wonderful cats who should be busy doing all the things young cats do … causing chaos, chasing toys, demanding snacks and taking over someone’s couch.

Instead, they’re still waiting for their forever homes 🏠

So, for the entire month of September, any of our cats who have been in care for 100+ days can be adopted for just $100.

That’s right. $100 for a cat who is ready to be someone’s best friend.

100 days is a long time to wait when you’re a cat.

Could September finally be their month?

We don’t mean to keep banging on about it…

BUT LIKE… WHY IS THIS GAL NOT ADOPTED?!

Seriously. We are running out of ways to tell you that Gazelle is an absolute legend.

Four years old, gorgeous as all get-out, clever, food motivated, affectionate without being in your face, loves her walks, loves a good sniff, loves enrichment and is equally happy spending the afternoon sunbaking or curled up on the couch.

She’s got a lovely off-switch, a silly side and once she trusts you, she forms the kind of bond that makes you feel very, very special.

Gazelle isn’t looking for just anyone. She needs a calm home, secure fencing, experienced people and someone willing to give her a little time to settle and continue the work she’s already been doing.

And yes, she can jump. Because apparently being this fabulous wasn’t enough.

She’s not suitable with cats or children and would likely be happiest as the only dog, although a meet and greet would be essential with any resident dog.

So, once again, we’re going to ask…

WHY. IS. GAZELLE. STILL. HERE?

Surely her person is out there.

We’d really like to find them.

Meet Possum 🐾

Possum is a quiet little girl with a heart of gold who is discovering that humans aren’t so scary after all — especially when they come with neck scratches and treats! 🥰

Coming from a hoarding situation, Possum was initially under-socialised, but she has made HUGE progress in foster care and is quickly learning to trust and relax. ❤️

She’s young and playful, with a love for wand toys, bell toys and racing up and down the hallway. 🪶🔔 She’s also wonderfully independent and perfectly happy entertaining herself before finding a warm spot for a snooze. 💤

Possum is even discovering the joys of sleeping on the bed with her humans and is learning to come when called — especially when dinner is involved! 🍽️

Her foster report card so far:

🅰️+ Litter box skills
🅱️+ Scratching posts, not furniture
🅰️+ Finding the warmest sleeping spots
🅱️+ Playtime antics
📝 Room for improvement: playing nicely with other cats and sleeping through the night 😹

Possum isn’t quite a cuddle bug yet, but she’s come such a long way in just a few weeks. She needs a patient, kind home that will allow her to build trust at her own pace.

She’d suit a quieter home with a single person, couple or family with older children 8+. She’s independent enough to be happy while her humans are at work, but still enjoys hanging out nearby while you work or watch TV. 🛋️

Possum can live with other cats with a slow, careful introduction, although she’s quite happy doing her own thing. She hasn’t met dogs yet.

She’s not demanding, she’s not needy and she certainly doesn’t expect you to entertain her 24/7. She just needs someone willing to give her time.

And we have a feeling that once Possum realises she’s home, she’s going to absolutely shine. ✨

“What’s the best therapy?” 🐾

We’re pretty sure it’s Granola.

This gorgeous little red dog is only 1 year old and has perfected the art of being VERY excited to see her favourite people. ❤️

Granola can be a little socially awkward when she first meets you, but once you’re one of her people, you get THIS.

The excitement. The zoomies. The games. The cuddles. The absolute joy of seeing you. 🥹

She is the sweetest girl for those she knows and loves, and she has SO much personality packed into her little body.

Granola is ready for someone to choose her, get to know her and discover what we already know — she’s bloody wonderful.

If you need a little red dog to improve your life, maybe Granola is your girl. 🐶❤️

Meet Taro 🐾

Taro is a friendly, happy little guy who started life in a large stray colony but has since discovered the absolute luxury of being a professional house cat. 🏡

And honestly? He’s very good at it. 😌

Taro is equal parts couch potato and playful goofball. He’ll happily snooze the day away, but let him hear a cat wand or the crinkle of a creamy treat and he’s instantly ready for action! 🪶🍦

He can put on a bit of a tough-guy act when meeting new people, but he’s easily won over with bum pats, head scratches and a little patience. Once you’re in his good books, Taro is a total lovebug. ❤️

He loves curling up on your lap or sleeping beside your head on the pillow — basically, wherever you are is where he wants to be. 🥰

Taro also enjoys the company of other cats and would love a friendly feline companion who can help boost his confidence. Bossy cats need not apply! 😹

He’s looking for a patient home where he can settle in at his own pace, with plenty of affection, playtime and treats. Taro would suit an adult-only home with older teenagers 16+.

🫘Meet Jelly Bean

Jelly Bean is the sweetest little soul with a VERY big personality.

Born with an eye condition that left her with limited sight, Jelly Bean was sadly dumped in a cardboard box. After complications with her eyes, both eventually needed to be removed — but this little legend hasn’t let that slow her down.

Having always had limited vision, Jelly Bean has adapted incredibly well to being completely blind. She confidently navigates her surroundings, explores, plays and can even jump on and off furniture once she’s mapped out her space.

She’s curious, confident, incredibly affectionate and a total stage-five clinger. She loves laps, cuddles, headbutts, attention and following her humans around like a little shadow. She’s also wonderfully chatty and will call out if she can’t find you until you answer!

When she’s not cuddling, she loves playing — especially chasing ping pong balls by sound.

Jelly Bean also LOVES other cats and needs a feline friend in her forever home. A confident cat companion will help her navigate, give her someone to follow and, most importantly, provide a buddy for play and cuddles.

She may not have eyes, but Jelly Bean certainly doesn’t think she’s any different. She’s looking for a home that sees just how incredibly special she is.
